To speed or not to speed: Thematic analysis of American driving narratives
Journal of Safety Research, 2021Speeding is a major cause of unintentional roadway death in the United States. Existing data show that U.S. drivers tend to speed less as they age, but reasons for this change remain largely unknown. Limited research has examined why U.S. drivers decide to speed or why U.S.

Self-monitoring of driving speed
Accident Analysis & Prevention, 2017In-vehicle data recorders (IVDR) have been found to facilitate safe driving and are highly valuable in accident analysis. Nevertheless, it is not easy to convince drivers to use them. Part of the difficulty is related to the "Big Brother" concern: installing IVDR impairs the drivers' privacy.

ASME 1995 Citrus Engineering Conference, 1995
The 3 C’s Cash - Control - and Coordination based on the use of variable speed drives in the Citrus Industry is covered in this paper. Proper use of variable speed drives results in more money (CASH) from Energy Savings, Reduced Maintenance cost, and Improved Efficiencies.

MODERN turbojet engines have a shaft speed range of approximately 2 to 1 (from ground idle to take‐off) and it is necessary, therefore, to have some form of infinitely‐variable‐ratio gearbox to obtain a constant speed for accessories such as a.c. generators.

Aggressive Driving and Speeding
2018Abstract Purpose: This chapter synthesises a variety of findings on the topic of aggressive driving and delivers a suite of strategies for moderating such behaviours. Examples and formal definitions of aggressive driving acts are given, along with specific techniques for reducing excessive speed and other aggressive behaviours.

A Study on Speeding Driving Based on Expected Speed
ICCTP 2009, 2009In the recent years, in china, speeding is one of the most serious road traffic violations and is one of the main reasons that cause road traffic accidents. In 2007, the road traffic accident fatalities caused by speeding account for 14.06% of the total, ahead of the main reasons for the accident, so the treatment of speeding is the main task of the ...

Driving speed profiles for autonomous vehicles
2017 IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium (IV), 2017We show that driving speed profiles with high spatial resolution can be constructed using large samples of GPS data collected from vehicle fleets, consumer navigation devices, and smart phones. Such historical speed profiles are expected to help adaptive cruise control systems or autonomous vehicles navigate in a manner consistent with the way people ...
