This combination will give a speed range of 120 to 1 or more, and can be used effectively in many industries to simplify the mechanical design of the machine which it drives.

A wide-range adjustable-speed drive
Electrical Engineering, 1949This paper describes the theory and characteristics of a drive which provides a wide range of adjustable speeds. The ratio of the maximum to minimum useful speeds attainable is approximately 20-to-1. The system provides high starting-torque, relatively high efficiencies and rapid deceleration through regenerative braking.

Driving simulator validation for speed research
Accident Analysis & Prevention, 2002The behavioral validation of an advanced driving simulator for its use in evaluating speeding countermeasures was performed for mean speed. Using mature drivers, 24 participants drove an instrumented car and 20 participants drove the simulator in two separate experiments.
