Driving waveforms of partial writing scheme for FLCD

Displays, 1993
Abstract The authors have developed driving waveforms for a new partial writing scheme. In the new partial writing scheme, the selected pixel which will change its image is rewritten, but the selected pixel which will not change its image is not. However, the driving waveform applied to the selected pixel which will not change its image must give the

Josephson Arbitrary Waveform System with Optoelectronic Drive

2017 16th International Superconductive Electronics Conference (ISEC), 2017
Quantum-accurate arbitrary voltage waveforms have been generated using electrical pulse driven Josephson junction arrays (JJAs) by several groups [1, 2]. An alternative method is to use optoelectronic components to convert the electrical pulse drive into an optical signal which is subsequently converted by a photodiode into an electrical drive signal ...

Bipolar Pulse-Drive Electronics for a Josephson Arbitrary Waveform Synthesizer

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2008
A Josephson arbitrary waveform synthesizer (JAWS) has been developed in order to generate quantum-based ac voltage signals. The key component of this JAWS is a modified commercial 30-Gb/s pattern generator that can generate ternary patterns (containing the values 1, 0, and 1, resulting in bipolar pulses).

Programmed driving waveforms for quick-response liquid powder displays

IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, 2010
A low optical contrast ratio is the major drawback of quick-response liquid powder displays (QRLPDs). In this paper, the electro-optical response of the QRLPD is analyzed, and better optical contrast is found to be obtained if the display is driven by pulse number modulation (PNM). However, PNM driving requires a longer driving duration.

Modeling of a linear ion trap with driving rectangular waveforms

Journal of Mass Spectrometry
AbstractWe consider the operation of a digital linear ion trap with resonant radial ejection. A sequence of rectangular voltage pulses with a dipole resonance signal is applied to the trap electrodes. The periodic waveform is piecewise constant, has zero mean, and is determined by an asymmetry parameter : one value is taken on interval and another on ,

A study on driving waveform of a piezoelectric inkjet print head

SPIE Proceedings, 2007
Inkjet printing technology with a drop-on-demand (DOD) inkjet head has been recognized as one of the versatile and low cost manufacturing tools in the electronics industry. However, general strategy to optimize jetting stability has not been understood well, because of the inherent complex multi-physics nature in inkjet phenomena.

20.2: Drive Waveforms for Active Matrix Electrophoretic Displays

SID Symposium Digest of Technical Papers, 2003
Abstract Microencapsulated electrophoretic (MEP) displays are promising candidates for smart handheld applications, where ease of reading and ultra‐low power consumption are of primary importance. A thorough study of the electro‐optic response characteristics of MEP systems has led to the development of a variety of novel drive ...

On the selection of the supply voltage waveform in induction motor drives

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1974
SUMMARY When the induction motors are supplied by static inverters alternating currents in the d.c. supply of the inverter are produced. In some applications it is necessary to satisfy prefixed constraints on the amplitude and bandwidth of these alternating currents.

Impact of PWM Waveforms on Partial Discharge in SiC-Based Motor Drives

IECON 2021 – 47th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2021
Partial discharge (PD) is a prime cause of premature failure of inverter-fed motor winding insulation. With the emergence of fast-switching wide-bandgap silicon-carbide (SiC) power devices, random-wound motors are more vulnerable to highly repetitive PDs due to the high-frequency steep-fronted switching transitions that result in overvoltage ...
