Optimization of track seeking pulse waveform in hard disk drives
Digest of the Asia-Pacific Magnetic Recording Conference, 2003Track access time is an important parameter for high performance hard disk drives (HDDs). Presently, the resonances of the head actuator assembly (HAA) caused by the pivot stiffness and mass of the HAA are becoming an even more urgent problem, since these resonances have become the main design factor which limits further reduction of track access time ...

P‐143: New Drive Waveforms for High Speed Erase Addressing
SID Symposium Digest of Technical Papers, 2008Abstract We propose a new high speed driving waveform which uses a negatively biased voltage to the common electrode and an alternating ramp voltage to the scan electrode during the reset period and an erase address scheme. It showed short discharge time lag under 800nsec, wide address voltage margin over 40V and improved jitter ...

Loss-optimal PWM waveforms for variable-speed induction-motor drives
IEE Proceedings B Electric Power Applications, 1983The paper calculates and provides results on loss-optimal commutation tables suitable for application in digital PWM commutation steering circuits for variable-speed induction-motor drives. The work differs from other works on this subject, because a special induction-motor-loss model is incorporated into the PWM waveform optimisation procedure, and ...

Composite Waveform Generation for EMP and Lightning Direct-Drive Testing
1994Abstract : An integral portion of electromagnetic transient (EMkT) testing is the survivability assessment. The ultimate goal of the survivability assessment is to establish the margin of survivability for the system under test. The margin of survivability is the ratio of system strength to anticipated stress.

Digitising and measurement of variable-frequency waveforms in thyristor drives
Transactions of the Institute of Measurement and Control, 1985On-going research within our department concerns the testing of thyristor drives for traction use. As a result of this work it became necessary to digitise the repetitive variable-frequency signals produced by the drives, to obtain by software processing root-mean-square and average values of current and voltage waveforms.

Optimal PWM waveform modelling for on-line AC drive control
6th International Conference on Power Electronics and Variable Speed Drives, 1996The authors demonstrate that an optimal pulse width modulation strategy may be accurately implemented online for AC motor drive applications. The strategy has the distinct advantage of almost total elimination of selected bands of harmonics with control of the fundamental.
