The role of geometry on controlled cavity collapse and top jet drop
Physics of Fluids, 2022The contents of this work explore the influence of three geometric parameters on controlled cavity collapse at liquid interface and the subsequent ejected drop; the parameters are the angle of the ejecting nozzle plate (θ), the height (H), and the radius (R) of the vessel used to enclose the liquid within.

Detecting Surfactant-producing Microorganisms by the Drop-collapse Test
World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2005A rapid method, ’drop-collapse’, was used for screening biosurfactant production by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus subtilis, Candida albicans and Phanerochaete chrysosporium liquid cultures. Before measuring the total biosurfactant, the drop-collapse method was used in order to detect rhamnolipid presence in the culture broths.

A drop-collapsing test for screening surfactant-producing microorganisms
Journal of Microbiological Methods, 1991Abstract A sensitive rapid method was devised for screening bacterial colonies that produce surfactants. Drops of cell suspensions of surfactant-producing colonies collapsed on an oil-coated surface. Drops of cell suspensions of colonies that did not produce, or produced very low concentrations of surfactants remained stable.

Langmuir, 2008
Collapse pressure of insoluble monolayers is a property determined from surface pressure/area isotherms. Such isotherms are commonly measured by a Langmuir film balance or a drop shape technique using a pendant drop constellation (ADSA-PD). Here, a different embodiment of a drop shape analysis, called axisymmetric drop shape analysis-constrained ...

Analysis of Tubing Collapse Failure during the Operation of Blending Light Dropping Viscosity
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012The heavy oil is the key point which China develops, at present the heavy oil is produced using the technique of blending light dropping viscosity, in addition to usual tubing failure ( pull out, fracture, perforation, corrosion etc.), a new failure form appeared that is tubing collapse, especially in western oilfields China.

The time history is examined of the motion of a compound multiphase drop formed by a vapour bubble completely covered by its liquid phase in another immiscible liquid. The compound drop is growing or collapsing owing to change of phase while it is translating under buoyant forces.

Thin-Walled Structures, 2018
Abstract Dynamic response for a series of cylindrical shells filled with water were discussed previously, which indicated that the limit buckling load of the cylindrical shells was greatly improved by the presence of water. To obtain a good protective structure, a double layered liquid-filled hemispherical shell structure is designed.

A cake collapse model was developed by taking the combined effects of fractal dimension, relaxation ratio, coordination number, and aggregate diameter into consideration. The cake porosity including intraaggregate and interaggregate porosities was modeled successively by three typical coordination numbers (n = 6, 8, and 12).

Vapor film collapse around hot liquid drops when an external pressure wave is supplied
Heat Transfer?Asian Research, 2000An external pressure wave generated by a magnetic hammer is applied to a single or multiple hot LiNO 3 drops which have been in stable film boiling in subcooled ethanol. The process of vapor film collapse triggered by the pressure wave is studied by photographic observations and pressure history measurements. The vapor film begins to destabilize about
