The collapse of water drops protected by a granular armor

High‐energy electron impact in plasma catalysis often causes excessive dissociation of active intermediates, limiting C2+ product selectivity. To address this challenge, a bio‐inspired stoma‐shell nanoarchitecture is designed to decouple electron impact from catalytic reaction zones.

Time line of redox events in aging postmitotic cells
The precise roles that oxidants play in lifespan and aging are still unknown. Here, we report the discovery that chronologically aging yeast cells undergo a sudden redox collapse, which affects over 80% of identified thiol-containing proteins. We present

Artificial Amorphous Interface Matters for Boosting High‐Voltage Stable LiCoO2 Cathode
The amorphization of phosphate‐based surface layer with favorable Li‐ion conducting kinetics is realized by precisely tailored atomic‐level fabrication. This amorphous coating enables the lithium cobalt oxide (LCO) cathode superior high‐voltage rate capability and cycling performance, owing to the fast interfacial ionic transport and maintained ...

Self‐Refreshing Bi‐Based Active Sites for Efficient and Durable Electrochemical CO2 Reduction
A self‐refreshing Bi‐based catalyst is developed through the fabrication of a novel basic bismuth nitrate pre‐catalyst, which exhibits differential active sites of Bi2O2CO3 at low potentials and metallic Bi phases at high potentials, self‐repairing capability, and thus wide‐potential‐window efficiency and ultralong durability toward electrochemical CO2

Sound emission from oscillating bubbles trapped by the collapse of drop-impact craters
When a drop impacts a deep pool, it forms a crater which subsequently rebounds. Under certain conditions, a dimple forms at the crater bottom, which pinches off to entrap a small bubble. The oscillation of this entrapped bubble is the primary source of the underwater sound produced by rain.

Abstract Thin-walled web-core sandwich structures are widely applied due to their weight specific mechanical performance. When subjected to a transverse load, the sandwich structures are apt to undergo local deformation which would considerably decrease the cross-sectional height and their global load resistance, especially under a ...

This study presents a new hole transporting material (HTM) mechanism for self‐assembled monolayers in near‐infrared organic photodetectors. The formation of zwitterions induces a strong electric field that significantly increases the work function of HTM‐coated indium tin oxide substrates. The devices exhibit low dark current and noise, along with high
