Field‐Programmed Anisotropy in Magneto‐Piezoelectric Composites for Material‐Encoded Mechanoperception

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Field‐programmed anisotropy imparts material‐level intelligence to soft composites. Magnetic torque dynamics drive magneto‐piezoelectric nanowires from random dispersion into deterministic axial alignment. The resulting hierarchical percolation networks confine electromechanical coupling to specific axes and intrinsically decouple superposed force ...

Meniscus‐Guided Interfacial Ring‐by‐Ring Assembly for In Situ Fabrication of Tubular Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A tubular hydrogel fabrication method leveraging the meniscus effect at the oil‐water interface is presented. UV irradiation across the concave surface of the photocurable hydrogel precursor induces the formation of ring‐like hydrogel structures. Sequential ring‐by‐ring assembly within microchannels enables the construction of arteriole‐scale hydrogel ...

Effect of Confinement on Droplet Coalescence in Shear Flow

Langmuir, 2009
The effect of confinement on the coalescence of Newtonian (polydimethylsiloxane) droplets in a Newtonian (polyisobutylene) matrix is investigated experimentally. A counter rotating parallel plate device, equipped with a microscopy setup, is used to visualize two interacting droplets during shear flow.
