CAPILLARY IMBIBITION TECHNIQUES USED TO CHARACTERIZE THESTRUCTURAL CHANGES IN MICROCRYSTALLINE CELLULOSE DUE TO WET AND DRY PROCESS

open access: yesAnales (Asociación Física Argentina)
In this work we study the change on the wettability and solid properties of microcrystalline cellulose (Avicel PH101)after it was wet and dried, through drop penetration experiments in slightly compacted porous beds.

A note on the integral condensation rate

open access: yesMeteorologische Zeitschrift, 1996
A method is presented for numerically calculating the increase of liquid water content due to condensation. It relies on considering the most detailed drop growth equation in the formulae for the time rate of change of number density as well as of liquid

Corona characteristics of conductor with TiO(2) hydrophilic film subjected to DC high voltage

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
Water drops on the surface of conductors influence the ambient electric fields and decrease corona inception voltage. A conductor coated with TiO(2) film was developed to prevent effects of droplets.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Thermocapillary Migration Of Nondeformable Drops

open access: yes, 2008
In this paper, we present a numerical study on the thermocapillary migration of drops. The Navier-Stokes equations coupled with the energy conservation equation are solved by the finite-difference front-tracking scheme.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Thermocapillary migration and interaction of drops: two non-merging drops in an aligned arrangement

open access: yes, 2015
A numerical study on the interaction of two spherical drops in thermocapillary migration in microgravity is presented. Unequal drop sizes in the axisymmetric model lead to strong drop interaction if the leading drop is smaller. The effect of the ratio of

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Full‐time domain deformation characteristics of water drop on sheds edge causing insulation failure of large‐diameter composite post insulators under heavy rainfall

open access: yesIET Science, Measurement & Technology, 2022
Insulation failures caused by water drops deformation on insulator sheds edge greatly threaten the stable operation of power grid. However, only few studies have focused on water drops deformation characteristics on insulator sheds edge.
