A connectome and analysis of the adult Drosophila central brain
The neural circuits responsible for animal behavior remain largely unknown. We summarize new methods and present the circuitry of a large fraction of the brain of the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster.

Locomotor Assay in Drosophila melanogaster
This protocol describes a simple locomotor assay in Drosophila melanogaster. In brief, the locomotor of each single fly in the culture dish is recorded by a web camera. The moving time, walking length, speed and the locomotor trails of the single fly could be quantitatively analyzed.

Attraction to natural stimuli in Drosophila melanogaster [PDF]
The animals, in particular insects (Drosophila melanogaster), response towards odor stimuli in nature can be established by measuring the dynamic of the odor response. Such an approach is innovative since responses to odors were tested only at certain time point so far, not in hour intervals for several hours.

mRNA active transport in oocyte-early embryo: 3D agent-based modeling [PDF]
Axes of polarity (and primary morphogenetic gradients) are established in the oocyte - early embryo through active transport and localization of maternal factors. It is the oocyte - syncytial embryo of Drosophila (D. melanogaster) that is a model object for studying the molecular machinery of such transport systems.

Clock mutants of Drosophila melanogaster.
Three mutants have been isolated in which the normal 24-hour rhythm is drastically changed. One mutant is arrhythmic; another has a period of 19 hr; a third has a period of 28 hr.

Infection Dynamics and Immune Response in a Newly Described
Trypanosomatid parasites are significant causes of human disease and are ubiquitous in insects. Despite the importance of Drosophila melanogaster as a model of infection and immunity and a long awareness that trypanosomatid infection is common in the ...

Physically-Inspired Gaussian Process Models for Post-Transcriptional Regulation in Drosophila [PDF]
The regulatory process of Drosophila is thoroughly studied for understanding a great variety of biological principles. While pattern-forming gene networks are analysed in the transcription step, post-transcriptional events (e.g. translation, protein processing) play an important role in establishing protein expression patterns and levels.

We analyzed the distribution of the Bari-I transposable element in Drosophila melanogaster (IN(1)AB), its sibling species Drosophila simulans (C167.4) and in eight hybrid strains derived from initial crosses involving D.
