The future of drug eluting stents [PDF]

open access: yesHeart, 2006
In-stent restenosis (ISR) is the major drawback of percutaneous coronary interventions, occurring in 10-40% of patients. Drug eluting stents (DES) are successful in a large majority of patients in preventing restenosis for the first year after implantation.

3D‐Printed Multidimensional Bionic Mg‐MC/PLGA Composite for Tailored Repair of Segmental Long Bone Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops 3D‐printed Mg‐MC/PLGA scaffolds with varying Mg concentrations (0–20%). The 5% Mg scaffold shows optimal cytocompatibility, osteogenic activity in vitro, and significantly enhances bone regeneration in rabbits, improving bone volume and mechanical strength.

Very Late Pathological Responses to Cobalt–Chromium Everolimus‐Eluting, Stainless Steel Sirolimus‐Eluting, and Cobalt–Chromium Bare Metal Stents in Humans

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2017
BackgroundThe “very late” clinical outcomes for durable polymer drug‐eluting stents and bare metal stents (BMSs) have been shown to be dissimilar in clinical studies.

Is a Drug-Eluting Stent the Default Treatment Strategy for Drug-Eluting Stent Restenosis?∗

open access: yesJournal of the American College of Cardiology, 2015
In 2001, when Morice et al. [(1)][1] presented the initial results of RAVEL (The Randomized Study With the Sirolimus-Coated Bx Velocity Balloon-Expandable Stent in the Treatment of Patients With De Novo Native Coronary Artery Lesions), showing 0% angiographic restenosis 6 months after ...

Application of underdamped Langevin dynamics simulations for the study of diffusion from a drug-eluting stent

open access: yes, 2018
We use a one-dimensional two layer model with a semi-permeable membrane to study the diffusion of a therapeutic drug delivered from a drug-eluting stent (DES).
