A method of characterising the complex anatomy of vascular occlusions and 3D printing biomimetic analogues

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 242, Issue 1, Page 64-75, January 2023., 2023
We have described a microcomputed tomography method which provides multi‐material detail on the calcified and soft tissue components of vascular occlusions. This is enables models of various components of the occlusion to be 3D printed, for use in the creation of biomimetic analogues.

Biodegradable Cable-Tie Rapamycin-eluting Stents

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
“Cable-tie” type biodegradable stents with drug-eluting nanofiber were developed to treat rabbit denuded arteries in this study. Biodegradable stents were fabricated using poly-L-lactide film following being cut and rolled into a cable-tie type stent ...

Comparison of drug-eluting balloon with repeat drug-eluting stent for recurrent drug-eluting stent in-stent restenosis

open access: yesCoronary Artery Disease, 2019
Approximately, 10-20% of patients with drug eluting stent (DES) in-stent restenosis (ISR) will develop recurrent ISR; yet, the optimal management of recurrent DES-ISR is unknown. We sought to compare the outcomes of recurrent DES-ISR treated with drug eluting balloons (DEB) to those with repeated implantation of new-generation DES.A total of 172 ...

Outcomes in Patients Treated With Thin-Strut, Very Thin-Strut, or Ultrathin-Strut Drug-Eluting Stents in Small Coronary Vessels: A Prespecified Analysis of the Randomized BIO-RESORT Trial.

open access: yesJAMA cardiology, 2019
Importance Stenting small-vessel lesions has an increased adverse cardiovascular event risk. Very thin-strut or ultrathin-strut drug-eluting stents might reduce this risk, but data are scarce.

Real-time 3D Shape Instantiation from Single Fluoroscopy Projection for Fenestrated Stent Graft Deployment [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Robotics and Automation Letters 2018, 2017
Robot-assisted deployment of fenestrated stent grafts in Fenestrated Endovascular Aortic Repair (FEVAR) requires accurate geometrical alignment. Currently, this process is guided by 2D fluoroscopy, which is uninformative and error prone. In this paper, a real-time framework is proposed to instantiate the 3D shape of a fenestrated stent graft based on ...

The Newest Generation of Drug-eluting Stents and Beyond.

open access: yesEuropean Cardiology, 2018
There has been a great evolution in the development of coronary stents in order to avoid both restenosis and thrombosis. Improvements have led to improvements in the design and conformation of metallic or resorbable structures, with an adequate balance ...

The stenting strategy of drug-eluting stents for coronary artery disease in patients on dialysis

open access: yesSAGE Open Medicine, 2014
Background: Reports regarding the relationship between the length and diameter of implanted drug-eluting stents and clinical and angiographic outcomes in dialysis patients are limited.

Temporal course of vascular healing and neoatherosclerosis after implantation of durable- or biodegradable-polymer drug-eluting stents

open access: yesEuropean Heart Journal, 2018
Aims Delayed healing and endothelial dysfunction may occur with drug-eluting stents (DES), promoting accelerated infiltration of lipids in the neointima and development of neoatherosclerosis (NA).
