FoxO1 signaling in B cell malignancies and its therapeutic targeting

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FoxO1 has context‐specific tumor suppressor or oncogenic character in myeloid and B cell malignancies. This includes tumor‐promoting properties such as stemness maintenance and DNA damage tolerance in acute leukemias, or regulation of cell proliferation and survival, or migration in mature B cell malignancies.

Biomarkers of drug-induced kidney toxicity.

open access: yesTherapeutic Drug Monitoring, 2019
Blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and serum creatinine are imperfect markers of kidney function because they are influenced by many renal and non-renal factors independent of kidney function.

Insights into PI3K/AKT signaling in B cell development and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Review explores how the phosphoinositide 3‐kinase and protein kinase B pathway shapes B cell development and drives chronic lymphocytic leukemia, a common blood cancer. It examines how signaling levels affect disease progression, addresses treatment challenges, and introduces novel experimental strategies to improve therapies and patient outcomes.

Drug-Induced Pemphigus

open access: yes, 2015
Drug-induced pemphigus can be induced or triggered by drugs, most often by penicillamine and other thiol-associated drugs. The time from first intake of the drug to onset of the reaction is often relatively long compared to other cutaneous adverse drug reactions. Clinically it presents most often as pemphigus vulgaris or pemphigus foliaceus.

Taurine promotes glucagon‐like peptide‐1 secretion in enteroendocrine L cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Taurine, a sulfur‐containing amino acid, is likely taken up by enteroendocrine L cells via the taurine transporter. This process increases the levels of cytosolic ATP. The increase in intracellular Ca2+ concentrations and glucagon‐like peptide‐1 secretion through membrane depolarization is caused by the closure of ATP‐sensitive potassium channels ...

Drug-induced lupus erythematosus: an update on drugs and mechanisms

open access: yesCurrent Opinion in Rheumatology, 2018
Purpose of review Rapid introduction of newly developed drugs in the absence of clear understanding of the pathophysiologic mechanisms behind drug-induced lupus erythematosus (DILE) can sometimes make DILE difficult to recognize in clinical practice. The
