Impact of Transporter Polymorphisms on Drug Development: Is It Clinically Significant? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Drug transporters are becoming increasingly recognized as relevant to the drug development process. This may be a reflection of increasing target complexity and the need for high-affinity interaction with drug targets that minimize off-target side ...

Measurement of CT radiation beam width with a pencil ionization chamber and radiopaque mask

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose This study compares fan beam CT scanner radiation beam widths measured with a pencil ionization chamber‐radiopaque mask technique with commonly used film and computed radiography (CR) measurements. Methods For a given fan beam CT scanner x‐ray beam, the ionization chamber‐mask technique determines the radiation beam width by exposing a

Feasibility study of skin dosimetry with TLD sheets for measuring the effect of 3D printed bolus in radiotherapy

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract The thermoluminescence dosimeter (TLD) sheet is a measurement device coated with manganese‐doped LiB3O5 in sheet form. The sheet is 0.2‐mm thick and flexible. Hence, it can fit and be installed on irregular surfaces. The current study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of measuring patient surface doses during radiation therapy using TLD sheets.

In vitro systems for the assessment of drug release from topical formulations and trans-membrane permeation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
Numerous experimental methods have been developed to investigate drug release from vehicles and the percutaneous absorption of topically applied chemicals.

Monte Carlo modeling of radiation dose from radiation therapy with superficial x‐rays

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Superficial x‐rays (50–100 kVp) are used for treating non‐melanoma skin cancer and intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT). At these energies, the photoelectric effect significantly increases absorbed dose to bone compared to soft tissue.

Chemi-net: a graph convolutional network for accurate drug property prediction [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) studies are critical for drug discovery. Conventionally, these tasks, together with other chemical property predictions, rely on domain-specific feature descriptors, or fingerprints. Following the recent success of neural networks, we developed Chemi-Net, a completely data-driven, domain ...

Inter-subject variability in oral drug absorption [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A low and highly variable bioavailability is often the main reason for the failure of the development of a drug intended for oral delivery. Focusing on absorption instead of bioavailability from oral administration enables the identification and ...
