Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Background Antipsychotics with dopamine (D2) receptor antagonism can be effective for emesis in cancer patients. Extrapyramidal symptoms (EPS) induced by typical antipsychotics can be exacerbated by other D2 receptor antagonists.

Targeting p38α in cancer: challenges, opportunities, and emerging strategies
p38α normally regulates cellular stress responses and homeostasis and suppresses malignant transformation. In cancer, however, p38α is co‐opted to drive context‐dependent proliferation and dissemination. p38α also supports key functions in cells of the tumor microenvironment, including fibroblasts, myeloid cells, and T lymphocytes.

The evolution of the therapeutic concept ‘GIP receptor antagonism’
Glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) is an intestinal hormone that potentiates glucose-induced insulin secretion in the postprandial state. GIP exerts a broad range of other physiological actions e.g.

Dual-action CXCR4-targeting liposomes in leukemia: function blocking and drug delivery
: CXC chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4) is overexpressed by a broad range of hematological disorders, and its interaction with CXC chemokine ligand 12 (CXCL12) is of central importance in the retention and chemoprotection of neoplastic cells in the bone ...

The Genetic and Environmental Sources of Resemblance Between Normative Personality and Personality Disorder Traits [PDF]
Recent work has suggested a high level of congruence between normative personality, most typically represented by the big five factors, and abnormal personality traits.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Novel anti-tumour necrosis factor receptor-1 (TNFR1) domain antibody prevents pulmonary inflammation in experimental acute lung injury. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Tumour necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) is a pleiotropic cytokine with both injurious and protective functions, which are thought to diverge at the level of its two cell surface receptors, TNFR1 and TNFR2.

Synergy and antagonism in natural product extracts: when 1 + 1 does not equal 2.
Covering: 2000 to 2019 According to a 2012 survey from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 18% of the U.S. population uses natural products (including plant-based or botanical preparations) for treatment or prevention of disease.
