Beta-blocking drugs and anxiety

Abstract Because of their antianxiety effects, beta-adrenergic blocking drugs represent alternatives to the benzodiazepines in patients with anxiety disorders. Although possibly less effective than the benzodiazepines, the beta-blockers may be useful in controlling the somatic symptoms of anxiety.
