Repositioning Antimicrobial Peptides Against WHO‐Priority Fungi

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The growing burden of drug‐resistant fungal infections, driven by pathogens such as Candida auris, Cryptococcus neoformans, and Aspergillus fumigatus, underscores the urgent need for novel antifungal therapies. This review explores antimicrobial peptides as promising agents with membrane‐disruptive activity, immunomodulatory properties, and delivery ...

Carbon‐Coated Probiotics Restore Intestinal Homeostasis to Promote Damage Repair in Inflammatory Bowel Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Carbon‐coated Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (C dots@LGG) enhances the antioxidant effects of LGG and safeguards the probiotics to target the inflamed colon. This reduces inflammation and oxidative damage, repairs the intestinal barrier, regulates the microbiota, and alleviates colitis.

Dual Hydrophilic‐Hydrophobic Core Architecture in Soy Glycinin Amyloid Fibrils Revealed by Cryo‐EM

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
While high‐resolution structures of animal and microbial amyloids are extensively characterized, the structural principles underlying plant‐derived amyloids remain largely unexplored. The study addresses this fundamental gap in knowledge by determining the first near‐atomic‐resolution cryo‐EM structures of amyloid fibrils derived from soy glycinin ...

Polycystin‐1 Mutant Alters Mechanotransduction in Response to Collagen and Extracellular Matrix Stiffness via Daam1‐Dependent Microfilament Remodeling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Polycystin‐1 (PC1) senses collagen and ECM stiffness to promote tumor migration via Daam1‐mediated actin remodeling. A cleavage‐resistant PC1 mutant enhances YAP nuclear translocation and CTGF expression, which activates CAFs and further stiffens the ECM, forming a feed‐forward loop that drives tumor progression and metastasis.
