Loading of Sealed Dry-Type Transformers
Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers. Part III: Power Apparatus and Systems, 1957The winding temperature rises of a representative sealed dry-type transformer are measured for a variety of loads following several steady-state conditions. These data are converted to hottest-spot temperatures utilizing previously published hottest-spot increments considering a variety of transformer geometries. Aging rates used for these temperatures

Insulation systems for dry type transformers
1967 Seventh Electrical Insulation Conference, 1967The major role of the dry type transformer is to provide distribution of electrical power from indoor installations. They are used in preference to oil filled units by virtue of reduced fire hazards and the elimination of fire resistant enclosures. With increased use of electrical power for air conditioning, data processing, copying machines, higher ...

Silicone rubber encapsulant for dry-type transformers
1968 8th Electrical Insulation Conference, 1968New resilient silicone elastomers are now available which appear to meet the electrical performance requirements for underground residential distribution transformers, whether buried or house mounted. Size, safety, weight and efficiency dictate that single residence transformers for underground distribution systems be of the dry-type.

The Development of a 110 kv dry-Type Transformer
Power Technology and Engineering, 2014There has recently been a worldwide trend towards stricter requirements on the ecology, fire and safety requirements of electrical equipment, which has been reflected in the extension of the region of application of dry-type transformers and a successive increase in their rated voltage and nominal power.

Specifying dry-type distribution transformers for solid-state applications
IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1991Existing theories, specification, and standards relating to the application of dry-type distribution transformers for solid-state applications are discussed. The criteria for selecting the proper transformer for several types of solid-state loads, such as UPSs, rectifiers, variable-speed drive systems, etc. are discussed.

Temperature classes for dry-type transformers
Electrical Engineering, 1953INSULATING MATERIALS currently are classified into classes O, A, B, C, and H (AIEE Standard Number 1). Although this classification may be adequate as a rough indication of the nature of a material, it does not appear to be adequate for establishing standard operating temperature limits either for materials, or, particularly, for a complete apparatus ...

Parallel CFD Analysis of Conjugate Heat Transfer in a Dry Type Transformer
2007 IEEE Industry Applications Annual Meeting, 2007In this paper, we present the conjugate heat transfer analysis in a 167-kVA dry-type transformer using the parallel version of the computational fluid dynamics code Fluent 6.0. The renormalization group kappa-epsiv model is proposed to compute the turbulent aspect of the convective airflow inside the transformer metal tank for Air Natural/Air Natural ...

Aging of dry-type transformer insulating systems
Electrical Engineering, 1953THE METHOD CHOSEN for evaluation of insulation aging should be representative of operating conditions, applicable to a large range of materials, and readily interpretable in terms of expected life of apparatus. A dielectric strength criterion meets these requirements for dry-type insulating systems.

Network modelling of dry-type transformer cooling systems
COMPEL - The international journal for computation and mathematics in electrical and electronic engineering, 2018Purpose The application of dry-type transformers is growing in the market because the technology is non-flammable, safer and environmentally friendly. However, the unit dimensions are normally larger and material costs become higher, as no oil is present for dielectric insulation or cooling.

Flammability testing of dry type transformer insulating materials
1975 EIC 12th Electrical/Electronics Insulation Conference, 1975The test results show that silicone resin impregnated glass-cloth and Aramid tapes have a higher Oxygen Index rating, less tendency to spread fire and develop less smoke than polyester or epoxy resins with silicone resin impregnants, the full fire resistant characteristics of the glass-cloth and Aramid paper can be utilized.
