Effect of Transfer Layer on Ultra Low Friction of CNx Coating under Blowing Dry Ar

open access: yesTribology Online, 2013
In order to clarify the ultra low friction mechanism of Carbon Nitride (CNx) coatings under blowing dry Ar, thickness and area of transfer layers on mating surface were in-situ observed with an optical microscope during sliding against a sapphire ...

Flax Composites With Improved Interfacial Strength Through Microbially Induced Mineral Precipitation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A bio‐inspired biomineralization strategy introduces an additional hierarchy to flax fiber composites. By controlling microbe‐mediated mineral particle deposition through tuned salt concentrations, stress transfer within the natural fiber composite is enhanced.

Mechanically Assisted Magnetic Actuation in Ceramic‐Based Microscrolls for Fast and Durable Soft Robotic Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ceramic‐based V2O5/Fe3O4 hybrid films are shaped into butterfly‐proboscis‐inspired microscroll actuators. Magnetic triggering initiates unrolling, while geometry‐programmed elastic strain energy drives rapid recoil, enabling fast, reversible, durable, and load‐bearing actuation under near‐field magnetic stimulation.

Tribological characteristics of compacted graphite cast iron in dry sliding condition [PDF]

open access: yesChina Foundry, 2006
The dry sliding wear and friction behaviors of compacted graphite cast iron (C. G. iron) were analyzed. The influence of the operating conditions (i.e.

Measuring and Manipulating Density of States in Two‐Dimensional Materials With Electrochemical Capacitance

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
We report electrochemical quantum capacitance spectroscopy as an ambient, in situ probe for defect‐mediated electronic structure at 2D material interfaces. Using monolayer MoS2, the method resolves band edges and vacancy states, tracks sulfur‐vacancy evolution during hydrogen evolution, and links interfacial density‐of‐states changes to nearly ...

Blade couple with dry friction connection

open access: yesApplied and Computational Mechanics, 2015
Vibration of a blade couple damped by a dry friction contact in the shroud is investigated by means of hysteresis loops and response curves analysis. The studied system is excited by one harmonic external force in a frequency range near to the lowest ...
