Performance of a High-Yielding Modern Rice Cultivar Takanari and Several Old and New Cultivars Grown with and without Chemical Fertilizer in a Submerged Paddy Field

open access: yesPlant Production Science, 2009
A high nitrogen-uptake capacity and effective use of absorbed nitrogen for dry matter and grain production are required to improve the production cost and environmental pollution.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Dry Matter Accumulation and Grain Filling Period in Tropical Maize [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
Tropical adapted maize inbreds were studied over two locations/seasons with the Dry Matter Accumulation (DMA) rates and Grain Filling Period (GFP) durations calculated and analyzed for future breeding qualities.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Paclobutrazol Improves Sesame Yield by Increasing Dry Matter Accumulation and Reducing Seed Shattering Under Rainfed Conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Several biotic and abiotic stresses significantly decrease the biomass accumulation and seed yield of sesame crops under rainfed areas. However, plant growth regulators (such as Paclobutrazol) can improve the total dry matter and seed production of the ...

Effects of Fertilizer Application Rate and Soil Covering on the Quality of Mechanically Transplanted Rice Seedlings

open access: yesGuangdong nongye kexue
【Objective】To clarify the effects of soil covering and nitrogen(N), phosphorus(P), potassium (K) nutrient regimes on the seedling quality of mechanically transplanted rice, and to provide a theoretical basis for standardized seedling raising for ...

Growth Analysis of Six Corn Hybrids Under Drought Conditions in Kermansh Province, Iran [PDF]

open access: yesIkufīziyuluzhī-i Giyāhān-i Zirā̒ī, 2013
To study the effect of water deficit on growth indices of different maize hybrid, a split plot experiment based on randomized complete block design with three replications was carried out at Agriculture Research Station of Kermanshah during 2006 ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

AN ALTERNATIVE STATISTICAL MODEL FOR THE ASSESSMENT OF DRY MATTER ACCUMULATION IN COOL SEASON CEREALS: COX REGRESSION [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In this study, the growing behaviors of some cool season cereals (bread wheat, rye, durum wheat and barley) cereals were modeled simultaneously during the two growing seasons.
