Comparative analyses of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) cultivars with varying node formation rate in greenhouse

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology
Background Shoot architecture is one of the fundamental traits in plants that diversifies their visual appearance. It is also an important agronomic trait as it substantially affects productivity and labor costs in crop species. Cucumber (Cucumis sativus

MORPHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS, PRODUCTIVITY AND QUALITY OF THREE NAPIER GRASS (Pennisetum purpureum Schum) CULTIVARS HARVESTED AT DIFFERENT AGE

open access: yesJournal of the Indonesian Tropical Animal Agriculture, 2014
The research was conducted to determine the morphological characteristics, productivity andquality of Napier grass cultivars Taiwan, King and Mott harvested at 8 and 13 after planting. Effect ofcultivar and harvest arranged in a nested design (3x2).

The fat and protein content of the sheep milk under different conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
In Hungary the Hungarian Combing Merino has been and still is the most common sheep breed. In order to increase the milk production traits, especially the milk components, several crossings were made.

Chemical Composition and Energy Nutritional Value of the Meat of Guinea Fowls (Numidameleagris), Fattened to different Ages [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The aim of the study was to investigate the chemical composition and energy content of the meat of young Guinea-fowls, with different duration of the fattening period, raised in a free-range, semi-intensive production system.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Effects of Incremental Dietary Levels of Ground Flaxseed on Milk Production, Ruminal Metabolism, and Enteric Methane Emissions in Organic Dairy Cows [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Ground Flaxseed (Linum uitatissimum) is a lipid supplement that is commonly fed to dairy cows. It is believed that supplemental lipid can change the Fatty Acid (FA) composition in the milk, and decrease methane production. Twenty lactating organic Jersey

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Dry Matter and Minerals in Loblolly Pine Plantation on Four Arkansas Soils [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
Average contents of N, P, K, Ca, and Na and total above ground dry matter were determined in 19-year-old unthinned loblolly pine (Pinus taeda L.) plantations in southeastern Arkansas.

dUTPase is essential in zebrafish development and possesses several single‐nucleotide variants with pronounced structural and functional consequences

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...
