Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Experimental study of the brittle–ductile transition in hot cutting of SG iron specimens [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0924013612002579The present paper investigates the brittle-ductile transition (BDT) of the primary shear zone during cutting of spheroidal graphite (SG) iron in the austenitization temperature range ...

Dry cured ham quality as related to lipid quality of raw material and lipid changes during processing: a review.

open access: yesGrasas y Aceites, 2009
Lipids play a key role in sensory traits of dry cured hams. Both the quantity and the composition of lipids in raw material affect dry-cured hams quality. The lipid characteristics strongly depend on rearing systems developed in different area in Europe.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Dry-cured ham Kraški pršut seasoning losses as affected by PRKAG3 and CAST polymorphisms

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2011
Association between polymorphisms on PRKAG3 (Ile199Val) and CAST (Lys249Arg and Ser638Arg) genes and dry ham seasoning losses was studied. A total of 724 green hams (same pig crossbreed, same pig producer) were selected, genotyped (PCR-RFLP) and ...

Organic Matter Processing on Dry Riverbeds is More Reactive to Water Diversion and Pollution Than on Wet Channels

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science, 2022
Rivers are severely affected by human activities and many are simultaneously impacted by multiple stressors. Water diversion for hydropower generation affects ecosystem functioning of the bypassed reaches, which can alternate between periods with natural
