Steam, dry and autothermal methane reforming for hydrogen production: A thermodynamic equilibrium analysis

open access: yes, 2020
Environmental issues of fossil fuels use in energy systems are boosting research in the field of H2 generation. Although steam reforming is the most well-established process for H2 production, alternative thermochemical routes are emerging.

Unique Role of Microstructure of a Bioimplant Zinc Alloy and Protein Content of Simulated Body Fluid in Corrosion and Fracture

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
BSA addition to physiological solutions enhances resistance of a Zn alloy to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) but reduces its corrosion resistance. Extended surface characterization explains the contrasting influences on corrosion and SCC. Unexpectedly, the alloy suffers transgranular SCC (TGSCC), despite extensive grain boundary precipitation. Thorough

Decoupling Li+ Transport in Self‐Healing Polymer Dual‐Salt Electrolytes for Room Temperature Lithium Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐healable polymer matrix, crosslinked via dynamic imine bonds, is synergistically coupled with a LiPF6–LiDFOB dual‐salt system to decouple Li+ from the polymer matrix, enabling fast Li+ transport. This strategy offers an effective pathway toward high‐performance, next‐generation gel‐polymer‐based Li‐metal batteries.

Internal biogas reforming in solid oxide and proton conducting fuel cells: progress, challenges and perspectives

open access: yesJPhys Energy
The internal reforming of biogas, a mixture containing carbon dioxide (CO _2 ) and methane (CH _4 ), in solid oxide and solid proton conducting fuel cells (SOFCs, SPCFCs) is a sustainable and efficient method to produce syngas (H _2 + CO) in combination ...

The Role of Viscoelasticity in Heterogeneous Glioblastoma Stem Cell Invasion in Biomimetic 3‐Dimensional Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The role of viscoelasticity in the invasion of heterogeneous glioblastoma stem cells (GSCs) was investigated with GSCs categorized into subgroups based on molecular profile, as Reactive, Invasive, or Constructive using viscoelastic biomimetic hyaluronan‐oxime hydrogels.

Evaluation of Nickel Catalysts Supported in Dry Methane Reform Aiming at Hydrogen Production/Case of Supports: SiO2, La2O3 MCM-41, and Al2O3

open access: yesOrbital: The Electronic Journal of Chemistry, 2020
The importance of biogas was evidenced by the dry reforming reaction using a nickel catalyst supported: Al2O3, SiO2, MCM 41 and La2O3. The catalysts were characterized using electron scanning microscopy, Chemisorption, BET, X- Ray analysis.  The reaction

Super-dry reforming of methane intensifies CO2 utilization via Le Chatelier's principle

open access: yes, 2016
Efficient CO2 transformation from a waste product to a carbon source for chemicals and fuels will require reaction conditions that effect its reduction. We developed a "super-dry" CH4 reforming reaction for enhanced CO production from CH4 and CO2.

Hemocompatible Glycogen‐Tissue Plasminogen Activator Complexes for Enhanced Blood Clot Dissolution

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Glycogen–heparin‐cRGD nanoparticles enable targeted delivery of tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) to thrombi through activated platelet recognition. The hemocompatible hybrids minimize interactions with blood and immune cells while retaining enzymatic biodegradability.

Can Elastomers Combine Stiffness, Toughness and Fatigue Resistance?

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review studies how the molecular and macroscopic architecture of elastomers influence their mechanical properties including: stiffness, stretchability, toughness, fatigue resistance, and damping behavior. By linking the structure to performance, it proposes design principles for advanced elastomeric systems that combine mechanical properties ...
