Ideal Molecular Sieving with a Dense MOF for Helium Upgrading with Highly Diffusion Selective Mixed Matrix Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The separation of Helium gas from natural gas is challenging but highly important. MIL‐116(Ga), a “non‐porous” metal–organic framework is used as a molecular sieve to separate He from CH4. Druse‐like MIL‐116(Ga) particles are integrated into polysulfone mixed matrix membranes.

Effects of Contact and Non-Contact Application of Exogenous Nitrogen on Nodulation and Nitrogen Fixation of Soybean

open access: yesAgriculture
Nitrogen (N) fertilizers can promote soybean growth, nodulation, and nitrogen fixation to a certain extent. However, excessive nitrogen application inhibits the nitrogen fixation capacity of soybean nodules.

Understanding and Optimizing Li Substitution in P2‐Type Sodium Layered Oxides for Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores Li‐substituted P2 layered oxides for Na‐ion batteries by crystallographic and electrochemical studies. The effect of lithium on superstructure orderings, on phase transitions during synthesis and electrochemical cycling and on the interplay of O‐ versus TM‐redox is revealed via various advanced techniques, including semi‐simultaneous

Mapping of quantitative trait loci associated with chilling tolerance in maize (Zea mays L.) seedlings grown under field conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The effect of low growth temperature on morpho-physiological traits of maize was investigated by the means of a QTL analysis in a segregating F2:3 population grown under field conditions in Switzerland. Chlorophyll fluorescence parameters, leaf greenness,

3D (Bio) Printing Combined Fiber Fabrication Methods for Tissue Engineering Applications: Possibilities and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...

Effect of Nitrogen and Phosphorus Fertilizers on Dry Matter Accumulation and Translocation of Two Amylose Content Indica Rice on Yield

open access: yesPlants
Nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) are key factors affecting rice yield. To study the effects of single application of nitrogen, phosphorus and their combined application on dry matter accumulation and yield of rice, two types of indica rice with contenting

Regulation of ethylene biosynthesis in Festuca novae-zelandiae (Hack.) Cockayne and in Festuca aruninaceae (Schreb.) in response to a water deficit : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Plant Biology at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Changes in ethylene evolution and the associated biosynthetic enzyme ACC oxidase to a water deficit, were examined in intact leaves of Fostuca novae-zelandiae and F. arundinacea cultivar 'Roa' (syn. Schedonorus phoenix).

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.
