Handbook of Establishing and Maintaining Oxygen‐Free Atmospheres

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a practical framework for creating oxygen‐free atmospheres at ambient pressure using silane‐doped inert gases. The results show that ultra‐low oxygen levels and strongly reduced water content can be achieved through controlled silane dosing, drying systems, and sensor monitoring.

Shear Strength Durability Investigation for Gypseous Soil Enhanced by Pectin Biopolymer

open access: yesTikrit Journal of Engineering Sciences
Several studies have shown that biopolymers improve soil; however, they mostly looked at how the shear strength and collapsibility improved without looking at how long the treatments would last.

Electrical Conductivities of Conductors, Semiconductors, and Their Mixtures at Elevated Temperatures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents a comprehensive review of temperature‐dependent electrical conductivity data for multiple material classes at elevated temperatures, highlighting a persistent conductivity gap between metals and semiconductors in the range of 102$\left(10\right)^{2}$– 107$\left(10\right)^{7}$ S/m. Metal–ceramic irregular metamaterials are proposed

Population of Nonmetallic Inclusions in Liquid High‐Silicon Electrical Steel in Contact With MgO–C Refractories Based on Recyclates and Environmentally Friendly Binders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The formation of nonmetallic inclusions (NMIs) was investigated in this study, carrying out immersion tests for 30 min at a temperature of 1600°C with liquid high‐silicon electrical steel (Si ≈ 3 mass‐%) and different MgO–C refractories. Conventional MgO–C refractories were considered, as well as MgO–C refractories containing MgO–C recyclate and ...

Laboratory and Centrifuge Model Tests on Influence of Swelling Rock with Drying-Wetting Cycles on Stability of Canal Slope

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2018
This study focused on the swelling behavior of swelling rock from canal basement under multiple drying-wetting (D-W) cycles. A series of laboratory tests were conducted on a swelling rock, with the cracking and strength behaviors investigated.

Experimental Study on Electric Resistivity Characteristics of Compacted Loess under Different Loads and Drying-Wetting Cycles

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2021
Densely compacted loess foundations of many man-made infrastructures are often exposed to various loads and extreme weathering processes (e.g., drying-wetting cycles), which significantly deteriorate their mechanical properties.

Development of Sustainable MgO–C Refractories Using MgO–C Recyclates and a Novel Eco‐Friendly Fructose–Tannin Binder Crosslinked With Citric Acid

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops sustainable MgO–C refractories using recycled materials and eco‐friendly fructose–tannin binders. The enhanced performance of citric acid as a cross‐linker and functional additives on mechanical and thermomechanical properties was examined. Characterization included strength tests, immersion trials, and microstructural and inclusion

Experimental study on influences of wetting-drying cycles on microstructure and water-retention characteristics of clay

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao
The Long-term wetting-drying cycles can weaken the engineering characteristics of subgrade fillers, resulting in engineering disasters. It is necessary to study the effects of the wetting-drying cycles on their microstructure and water-retention ...

Impact of Pre‐Oxidation Treatments on a Recycled MgO/Steel‐Composite as Carbon Free Anode in Aluminum‐Electrolysis Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Cermets (60 vol.% AISI 316L stainless steel, 40 vol.% recycled MgO), intended for use in aluminum electrolysis, were pre‐oxidized in three furnaces with different heating technologies and subjected to a cryolite corrosion test. The different atmospheres influenced the formation of oxide layers, which in turn affected corrosion resistance and ...

The effect of various cyclic Wet-Dry exposure cycles on the Failure Process of Organic Coatings

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2019
The effect of various dry-wet cycles on the failure processes of the acrylic polyurethane heat-reflection topcoat and thick epoxy anti-rust primer was investigated, where simulated seawater constituted the wet condition and air constituted the dry ...
