Analysis of Shrinkage Reducing Admixtures on Drying Shrinkage of Concrete

"SP-209: ACI Fifth Int Conf Innovations in Design with Emphasis on Seismic, Wind and Environmental Loading, Quality Con", 2002
This work aimed to verify the feasibility of reducing the drying shrinkage of concrete made with portland pozzolan cement. Major variables included slump, shrinkage-reducing admixture (SRA) brand and dosages, and specimen dimensions. Tests were conducted on 132 prism specimens and shrinkage strains were measured up to 360 days of drying.

Shrinkage of dog lobes during air-drying fixation

Journal of Applied Physiology, 1980
Air-drying of canine lung lobes, distended at a constant pressure corresponding to 50% of lobar total lung capacity, resulted in a volume shrinkage of 35.8%. To examine associated changes in shape of the lobes, the shrinkage of three orthogonal directions (x, y, and z) was quantitated by measuring the change in length per unit length (strain; epsilon)

Drying shrinkage and stresses

1992
A numerical study of the effects of shrinkage and stresses on drying kinetics was performed. A diffusional model was used, taking into account the deformation of the solid. The materials studied were a medium-shrinkage clay and a highly shrinking gel.

Shrinkage Characteristics and Porosity of Pears during Drying

Drying Technology, 2006
The high moisture content of pears (about 80%) results in a high degree of shrinkage when drying takes place, which strongly affects the fruit structure and quality. The aim of the present work was to study the shrinkage characteristics of pears during air drying by evaluating their dimensions and volume along the drying process and by predicting ...

Mathematical Modelling of Shrinkage During Drying

Drying Technology, 1996
ABSTRACT Main aim of this paper is to present a mathematical model describing the shrinkage phenomenon of materials undergoing drying processes. The model was constructed using the methods of continuum mechanics and the principles of thermodynamics of irreversible processes.it considers the similtaneous deformation of the dried body accompanying the ...

Plastic shrinkage in dry mix shotcrete

2009
Plastic shrinkage cracking of dry-mix shotcrete is a common problem encountered within the construction industry. Dry-mix shotcrete is used in a wide variety of applications most commonly, the repair and rehabilitation of deteriorated concrete structures.

Shrinkage Coefficient: Drying Microcrack Indicator

In order to investigate the material behaviour in reality (macro-level) during drying shrinkage at early age, the shrinkage coefficient (αsh) is determined in the laboratory at micro-level on specially prepared and dried (1 mm) thick cement paste specimens. Drying shrinkage experiments are performed in Environmental Scanning Electron Microscope (ESEM).

Fatal Factor for Durability: Drying Shrinkage

2014
Drying shrinkage is one of the basic properties of concrete. When concrete structure was in circumstance of open air, or dry and hot, various degrees of drying shrinkage cracks would created after certain times.
