Geodetic surveying and creation of a map of the obstacles of the future airport Golubić - Bihać [PDF]

open access: yesTehnika
In the area of the planned airport Golubić - Bihać, a geodetic survey and creation of a map of obstacles was carried out with the aim of detailed detection of potential dangers in the airspace. Airborne laser scanning technology (LiDAR) was used for data

Hyperspectral species maps and LiDAR‐based structured population models show future forest fire frequency may compromise forest resilience

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
Monitoring forest recovery from disturbances at scale requires tracking tree dynamics, yet traditional ground‐based approaches are resource‐intensive. We present a pipeline to parameterize integral projection models (IPMs) using LiDAR data and hyperspectral‐based species maps to assess post‐fire recovery across large, forested areas at the Caribou ...

Vibration Analysis of FGM Annular Plate with Linearly Varying Thickness for Several Boundary Conditions [PDF]

open access: yesMechanics of Advanced Composite Structures
The present article depicts the influence of linear thickness variation on the free axisymmetric vibration of functionally graded material annular plates. For this, three different types of boundary conditions have been taken into consideration.

Classification of tree species and standing dead trees in Boreal forests using UAV‐based RGB, multispectral, and LiDAR point clouds

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
We evaluated single‐ and multi‐sensor UAV approaches for classifying tree species and standing dead trees in boreal forests, focusing on key biodiversity indicators such as European aspen. Using spectral and structural features extracted from RGB, multispectral (MSP), and LiDAR point clouds for 1,205 field‐measured trees, we compared classification ...

Effect of photogrammetric RPAS flight parameters on plani-altimetric accuracy of DTM

open access: yesOpen Geosciences, 2020
Remotely piloted aerial systems (RPASs) are gaining fast and wide application around the world due to its relative low-cost advantage in the acquisition of high-resolution imagery.

Using Airborne Laser Scanning and Sentinel‐2 to Understand Subcanopy Light Regimes and Understory Diversity of Vascular Plants in Temperate Mountain Forests

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that not just Airborne Laser Scanning, but also Sentinel‐2 can effectively estimate absolute canopy cover and canopy cover heterogeneity ‐ structural metrics that determine the subcanopy light regime, found to be linked to the vascular plant species richness in the understory of temperate mountain forests.

A Comparison of Mobile Laser Scanning Data Acquisition Methods in Closed Forest, Open Woodland and Sub‐Alpine Woodland Ecosystems

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that the mobile laser scanning (MLS) sampling density required to reliably characterise vegetation structure increases with a site's structural complexity. Applying a five‐level acquisition framework across open woodland, closed forest and sub‐alpine woodland ecosystems, we found that longer scanning paths increased the ...

Application of Circular Economy Principles to Power Generation: Extending the Life of A Hydropower Plant by Pumped Hydro Energy Storage

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The application of circular economy, which aims to maximize efficiency and reduce waste, to renewable energy sources necessitates, given the intermittent nature of the latter, robust energy storage solutions to ensure grid stability and avoid wasting energy.

DTMs for terrain evaluation

open access: yesGeocarto International, 1992
Abstract Many physical processes operating in the landscape are locally dependent on landscape geometry. The decription of surface geometry contained in a digital terrain model (DTM) offers the opportunity to objectively evaluate these processes using computer technology.
