Off-line signature verification using DTW

In this paper, we propose a signature verification system based on Dynamic Time Warping (DTW). The method works by extracting the vertical projection feature from signature images and by comparing reference and probe feature templates using elastic matching.

Quantized Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) algorithm

DTW algorithm compares the parameters of an unknown spoken word with the parameters of one or more reference templates. The more reference templates are used for the same word, the higher is the recognition rate. But increasing the number of reference templates for the same word to recognize, leads to an increase in memory resources and computing time.

A combined filtering search for DTW

Due to its high matching precision, DTW is an important similarity measure for time series. However, the high computational complexity restricts its application on mass data sets. To solve the problem, a combined filtering search is proposed, which combines lower-bounding technique and early-abandon strategy, to reduce the redundant computation.

New parallel implementations for DTW algorithms

The parallel realization of a popular dynamic time warping (DTW) algorithm is discussed. Two alternative techniques are proposed, one based on a circular array and the other using a linear array of processing elements (PEs). The architecture of each PE is defined in both cases and computational phases are outlined.
