A Study on Quantification of the Extent of Co-articulation in a VCV Sequence [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Electrical and Electronics Engineering
Co-articulation is a phenomenon in speech production where the articulatory movements for a speech sound are influenced by the surrounding sounds and their movements.

Relating Bryophyte Assemblages to a Remotely Sensed Depth-to-Water Index in Boreal Forests

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2018
Given the habitat moisture (air humidity or soil moisture) preferences of many forest bryophytes, we explored whether the depth-to-water (DTW) index, derived from remotely sensed Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) data, was related to fine-scale ...

Mountain Croplands as Biodiversity Refugia: External Ecotones in the Central Tian‐Shan of Kyrgyzstan Warrant Conservation Priority

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
External ecotones are local hotspots across cultural and natural landscapes. Floral composition reflects external ecotones and regional species pool influence. Patchy mountain croplands are essential for long‐term conservation strategies. ABSTRACT The Mountains of Central Asia constitute one of the world's most vulnerable yet least protected ...

Understanding personalized dynamics to inform precision medicine: a dynamic time warp analysis of 255 depressed inpatients

open access: yesBMC Medicine, 2020
Background Major depressive disorder (MDD) shows large heterogeneity of symptoms between patients, but within patients, particular symptom clusters may show similar trajectories.

Improved algorithm of DTW in speech recognition

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2019
Abstract This paper improves the Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) algorithm. In order to change the problem of the traditional search range of DTW speech recognition algorithm is too large, an improved DTW algorithm is proposed to limit the search path.

Temporal and Spatial Responses of Chinese Red Pandas to Anthropogenic Disturbance in Meigu Dafengding National Nature Reserve, Sichuan

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
We explored red panda behavioral adaptations to disturbances from both temporal and spatial perspectives. Red pandas favor high‐altitude areas with minimal disturbance and abundant resources. Findings provide a foundation for developing cohesive protection strategies, crucial for long‐term conservation.

Morphodynamic adjustment in a watershed affected by megafires: Deadman River, British Columbia, Canada

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 8, August 2026.
The Deadman River watershed (British Columbia, Canada) was severely impacted by the Sparks Lake Fire in 2021. Timelapse photogrammetry reveals sharp post‐fire channel widening and increase in migration rate. Through multispectral remote‐sensing analysis, these morphodynamic changes are related to burn severity affecting the watershed.

A Multiscale Spatiotemporal Causal Mapping Algorithm for Revealing Neural Network Mechanisms of Transcutaneous Auricular Vagus Nerve Stimulation

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 11, 01 August 2026.
In this study, we propose a multiscale spatiotemporal causal mapping (MSTCM) algorithm integrating multiscale functional connectivity and delay‐aware causal inference. Applied to resting‐state fMRI data, MSTCM reveals that taVNS reorganizes large‐scale brain networks by enhancing global integration efficiency while shifting information processing from ...

Applying Transfer Learning for Street‐Scale Nuisance Flood Forecasting in Coastal‐Urban Environments

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract An important challenge with Machine Learning (ML) is its transferability; that is, whether an ML model trained on one set of data can be applied to a second set of data without requiring full retraining of the model. Transfer Learning (TL) addresses this challenge by transferring knowledge learned in the source domain (the data it was trained ...

AdaPDTW: An Efficient Abstract-Adaptive Piecewise Dynamic Time Warping for Time Series Classification

open access: yesIEEE Access
Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) offers precise similarity measure but suffers from high computational cost. To address this issue, we propose an abstract-adaptive PAR-DTW, which computes DTW in a low-dimensional piecewise abstract representation (PAR) space ...
