Numerical Modeling of Tank Cars Carrying Hazardous Materials With and Without Composite Metal Foam

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Large‐scale puncture models consisting of hazardous materials (HAZMATs) tank car with protective steel–steel composite metal foam (S–S CMF) are solved numerically. Tank car plate with added 10.91–13.33 mm thick S–S CMF layer does not puncture. Protective S–S CMF absorbs impact energy, reduces plate deformation, and prevents shear bands formation ...

Triple Band Internal Antenna Using Matching Circuits [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In this paper, a triple-band internal antenna for mobile handsets is present. Dual band operation is generated by using a band reject filter as a matching circuit and without any transformations on its radiator.

DUAL TRIDENT UWB PLANAR ANTENNA WITH BAND NOTCH FOR WLAN [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, a compact microstrip fed ultra-wideband antenna with a band notch characteristic is presented. The proposed antenna consists of two tridents and two uneven split ring resonators.

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Time‐Dependent Oxidation and Scale Evolution of a Wrought Co/Ni‐Based Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows how a new wrought Co/Ni‐based superalloy resists oxidation at 800 ∘$^\circ$C. The oxide scale changes from rough, fast‐growing spinel to a dense, protective chromia–alumina layer. Atom probe analysis reveals tiny refractory‐rich bubbles at the interface that mark the transition to long‐term, diffusion‐controlled protection ...

Influence of Test Temperature and Test Frequency on Fatigue Life of Aluminum Alloy EN AW‐2618A

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of test temperature and test frequency on the fatigue life of EN AW‐2618A is investigated. High‐cycle fatigue tests are performed at different test temperatures and frequencies on the 1000 h/230°C overaged state. Both test parameters reduce fatigue life due to time‐dependent damage mechanisms.

The study of the ground plane effect on a Multiband PIFA Antenna by using Genetic Algorithm and Particle Swarm Optimization

open access: yesJournal of Microwaves, Optoelectronics and Electromagnetic Applications
The ground plane plays an important role on the performance of a planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA). In this regard, the ground plane modification using slots is proposed in this research to obtain a dual band antenna for WiMAX application.

Novel dual-band single circular polarization antenna feeding network for satellite communications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper a novel dual-band single circular polarization antenna feeding network for satellite communications is presented. The novel antenna feed chain1 is composed of two elements or subsystems, namely a diplexer and a bi-phase polarizer.
