Performance Analysis of Abradable Coating Systems for Aircraft Gas Turbines

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Three CoNiCrAlY/YSZ/MgAl2O4 abradable liner configurations on a nickel‐superalloy are evaluated by thermal‐gradient cycling and incursion tests. Laser ablation of the bondcoat and/or Y2O3‐stabilized ZrO2 (YSZ) intermediate layer increases mechanical interlocking and bonding for thick topcoats.

Bifurcation analysis on formability coupled with microstructural evolution of dual-phase steels subjected to various stress states

open access: yesNext Materials
Forming limit serves as a critical metric in evaluating the formability of advanced sheet metals. Unlike the plane stress state in conventional sheet processing technologies, compressive normal stress and even more intricate stress states play a ...

QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS OF BANDED STRUCTURES IN DUAL-PHASE STEELS

open access: yesImage Analysis and Stereology, 2011
Dual-Phase (DP) steels are composed of martensite islands dispersed in a ductile ferrite matrix, which provides a good balance between strength and ductility.

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Effect of Boron in Cold Rolled DP Steels; Fundamentals of Metallurgy & General Property Map [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Metallurgy and Materials
Dual-phase (DP) steels with their dual phase microstructures (hard martensite and soft ferrite) are used in many industrial applications, especially in the automotive industry, thanks to their desired mechanical properties and formability.

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

Characterization of corrosion products formed in high-strength dual-phase steels under an accelerated corrosion test

open access: yesEngineering Science and Technology, an International Journal
There are some researches in the literature on the mechanical characteristics of dual-phase (DP) steels used in the automotive industry, but there is no comprehensive research on the corrosion behavior of these steels.

Optimal control of multiphase steel production

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics in Industry, 2019
An optimal control problem for the production of multiphase steel is investigated that takes into account phase transformations in the steel slab. The state equations are a semilinear heat equation coupled with an ordinary differential equation, that ...
