Enhanced dual polarization directional coupler for dual polarization beam forming networks

2000 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest (Cat. No.00CH37017), 2002
Directional couplers and fixed phase shifters are the key components for the realization of beam forming networks. Usually a beam forming network feeds the antenna with two linear and orthogonal polarizations. Dual polarization components can be used to reduce complexity and size of a beam forming network.

Chill Radar Dual Polarization

2006 IEEE International Symposium on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2006
The CHILL radar was originally designed as dual polarization radar. It was put into operation in late 1971. The original concept was a dual frequency X-band and S-band system. In 1972, the idea of using it as polarization radar was suggested by Drs. Tom Seliga and Viswanathan Bringi.

Dual polarized transmitarray lens

The 8th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP 2014), 2014
A new dual polarization lens working at the frequency of 30GHz has been designed and simulated. The design of the unit cell is based on a structure of four stacked patches coupled by a symmetric cross that achieves a 360-degree phase-shift for both polarizations by varying a different dimension of the patches for each one.

Dual-polarized broadband dipole

IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, 2003
A dual-polarized, broadband antenna made up of two single-polarized dipoles is presented. The antenna is mounted on a ground plane to produce a low-profile structure. Two fractal-like elements are used, but a very wide bandwidth is only achieved by making adjustments to the shape to reduce the coupling between the two polarizations.

Jointly Shaped Dual Polarization Systems

Optical Fiber Communication Conference (OFC) 2021, 2021
We present a probabilistic shaping algorithm whereby both polarization streams of a dual-polarized system are shaped together. The proposed method offers 0.2-0.92 dB gains over existing shaping schemes for the same block-length.

Dual-polarized ring lasers

IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1977
Simultaneous laser oscillation of four nondegenerate polarization and propagation direction eigenstates of a single TEM 00 mode was observed in a ring laser cavity. The observed polarization and frequency properties of the ring laser were analyzed in terms of the Jones matrix calculus.

Dual Polarization Gyro

1982
This paper presents a new fiber optic gyro configuration that is designed to provide independence from the principal bias errors due to the phase modulator. The configuration operates with optimum Π/2 phase shift for gyro sensitivity, 2x increase in scale factor and has been experimentally shown to provide a lOx improvement in immunity to modulator ...

Dual-polarization mode-locked Nd:YAG laser

Optics Letters, 2012
A mode-locked solid-state laser containing a birefringent element is shown to emit synchronously two frequency combs associated to the two polarization eigenstates of the cavity. An analytical model predicts the polarization evolution of the pulse train, which is determined by the adjustable intracavity birefringence. Experiments realized with a Nd:YAG

Spatial modulation with dual-polarized antennas

2015 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC), 2015
In this work, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication employing spatial modulation (SM) is considered with dual-polarized antennas over correlated Rayleigh and Rician channels. A general average bit-error probability (ABEP) upper bounding framework is presented for the dual-polarized SM-MIMO systems.

Mainbelt Asteroids: Dual-Polarization Radar Observations

Science, 1985
Observations of 20 asteroids in the main belt between Mars and Jupiter provide information about the nature of these objects' surfaces at centimeter-to-kilometer scales. At least one asteroid (Pallas) is extremely smooth at centimeter-to-meter scales.
