Dual-Comb Ranging

open access: yesEngineering, 2018
Absolute distance measurement is a fundamental technique in mobile and large-scale dimensional metrology. Dual-comb ranging is emerging as a powerful tool that exploits phase resolution and frequency accuracy for high-precision and fast-rate distance ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Dual time scale network slice resource allocation method based on limited memory and probability learning

open access: yesDianzi Jishu Yingyong
Network slicing is crucial for enabling networks to meet the diverse service demands of various verticals. To address the issue of dynamic changes in slice types, a Federated Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning (F-MALML) algorithm with dualtime scale ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

G-Quadruplex Folding Observed by two Photon Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy and Dual Time Scale [PDF]

open access: yesBiophysical Journal, 2010
G-rich DNA sequences are known to fold upon addition of salt into a stacked well defined configuration called a quadruplex. A fluorescently labeled 5′-FAM −24-mer G-quadruplex sequence was used to explore the variation of diffusion coefficients at extremely low, low and high KCl concentrations.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.
