Dual systems and dual attitudes
Mind & Society, 2012It can be argued that dual-system theorists should adopt an action-based view of System 2 (S2), on which S2 reasoning is an intentional activity. It can also be argued that they should adopt a dual-attitude theory, on which the two systems have distinct sets of propositional attitudes.

The dual of the dual as an approximation of the primal
International Journal of Systems Science, 1974A formulation and some properties of the (Lagrangian) dual of the dual of a mathematical programming problem were presented in an article by Unger and Hurter (1972). Here, that formulation is simplified, so that the resulting form is more closely related to the primal.

In this paper we apply the classification (see the two preceding reviews) to the 2-parameter family of caustics by reflexion obtained from a fixed generic plane curve and an arbitrary point source off the curve. We find all the transitions which occur locally on the caustic as the source is moved in the plane.

The Lancet, 2012 In December, 2008, an 18-year-old woman, presented with weight loss, palpitations, dyspnoea, heat sensitivity, and excessive sweating. On examination, her pulse rate was 140 bpm and regular, and her blood pressure 130/60 mm Hg. Her weight was 48 kg and height 158 cm. We correspond to one to one elements of the unit dual sphere S D 3 with the dual unitary matrices SUD(2). Thus, we express spherical concepts such as meridians of longitude and parallels of latitude on SUD(2).
