Design of Integrated Medium Frequency Transformer (iMFT) for Dual-Active-Bridge (DAB) Based Solid-State-Transformers

2021 IEEE 12th Energy Conversion Congress & Exposition - Asia (ECCE-Asia), 2021
Dual-Active-Bridge (DAB) converters (DC-DC, AC-DC and AC-AC) are proposed for Solid-State-Transformers (SSTs). Integrated medium frequency transformer (iMFT) provides a compact magnetic solution for isolated DABs, by eliminating the need for additional inter-bridge auxiliary inductor.

Modeling and control of the Dual Active Bridge (DAB) converter applied to the power management of a battery bank

2019 IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Conference - Latin America (ISGT Latin America), 2019
The increasing inclusion of Electric Vehicles (EV) in to the Electric Power System (EPS) brings together the idea of using the EV batteries as auxiliary elements to supply the demand for electricity at times of great consumption. In order to perform the energy density management that the battery stores and delivers to the EPS, a bidirectional DC-DC ...

Robust Digital Nonlinear Control System for Dual Active Bridge (DAB) DC/DC Converters With Asymmetric Half-Cycle Modulation

IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Industrial Electronics, 2020
This article presents a new digital control system for dual active bridge dc/dc converters. The proposed control system includes a novel compensator with asymmetric half-cycle modulation. The proposed compensator is based on a novel geometric-sequence-control algorithm, which is a model-based predictive current control.

Impedance modeling and verification of a dual active bridge (DAB) DC/DC converter enabled DC microgrid in FREEDM system

2016 IEEE 8th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference (IPEMC-ECCE Asia), 2016
This paper investigates the terminal impedance characteristics of the dual active bridge (DAB) DC/DC converter enabled DC microgrid. In this system, the DAB converters are employed not only in the solid state transformer (SST) to enable the DC microgrid, but also to integrate the distributed energy storage device (DESD).

Stability analysis and improvement of a dual active bridge (DAB) converter enabled DC microgrid based on a reduced-order low frequency model

2016 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), 2016
This paper analyzes the harmonic instability due to interactions among power converters and negative incremental impedance of load converters in a dual active bridge (DAB) converter enabled DC microgrid. Based on derived system impedances, it is found that the challenge of a DAB converter enabled microgrid stability is low frequency terminal behaviors ...
