Dual mobility prosthesis in Hip Arthroplasty

open access: yesInternational journal of health sciences, 2022
Background: With the increase in the number of total hip arthroplasty performed in the next decades to reduce or prevent medical and mechanical complications such as post operative THA instability Dual mobility was introduced as an alternative to standard sockets to reduce the risk of THA dislocation post operatively.(1) Aim of the work: to evaluate ...

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Comparison of dual-mobility cup and unipolar cup for prevention of dislocation after revision total hip arthroplasty

open access: yesActa Orthopaedica, 2017
Background and purpose — Revision total hip arthroplasty (THA) is associated with higher dislocation rates than primary THA. We compared the risk of dislocation within 6 months and all-cause re-revision during the whole study period using either the dual-

Dual career couples in academia, international mobility and dual career services in Europe [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The number of dual career couples in academia is growing due to the increasing proportion of women with a doctoral degree and the greater propensity of women to choose another academic as their partner.

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

The Inter-Related Dynamics of Dual Job Holding, Human Capital and Occupational Choice [PDF]

open access: yes
The inter-related dynamics of dual job-holding, human capital and occupational choice between primary and secondary jobs are investigated, using a panel sample (1991-2005) of UK employees from the British Household Panel Survey (BHPS).

Canted seating of the Stryker Modular Dual Mobility liner within a Trident hemispherical acetabular shell

open access: yesArthroplasty Today, 2016
A 75-year-old woman who suffered a left femoral neck fracture underwent a left total hip arthroplasty using a Stryker Trident (Kalamazoo, MI) hemispherical acetabular shell and Modular Dual Mobility (MDM) metal liner.

Effects of two 24-week multimodal exercise programs on reaction time, mobility, and dual-task performance in community-dwelling older adults at risk of falling: a randomized controlled trial

open access: yesBMC Public Health, 2021
Background Falls in older adults are considered a major public health problem. Declines in cognitive and physical functions, as measured by parameters including reaction time, mobility, and dual-task performance, have been reported to be important risk ...

The Theory of Bonds: A New Method for the Analysis of Linkages

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper we introduce a new technique, based on dual quaternions, for the analysis of closed linkages with revolute joints: the theory of bonds.

Constrained liners, dual mobility or large diameter heads to avoid dislocation in THA. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Dislocation remains a common cause of failure after total hip arthroplasty. The limitations of existing approaches to address instability have led to the development of powerfull options: constrained liners, dual mobility and large heads.
