Effect of the morphology of the martensite-austenite phase on fracture of the weld heat affected zone in vanadium and niobium microalloyed steels

open access: yes, 2010
In multipass welding, the intercritically reheated coarse grained heat affected zone demonstrates the worst toughness in welded joint, since it contains a high-carbon martensite with some retained austenite, known as M-A phase, which is brittle and ...

Enhancement of Wear Resistance on H13 Tool and Die Steels by Trace Nanoparticles

open access: yesMetals, 2022
In order to improve the impact toughness and wear resistance of the tool and die steels, this study innovatively prepared strengthened H13 steels with different contents of single-phase TiC and dual-phase TiC + TiB2 through in situ nanoparticle/Al master

Bauschinger effect and coercivity in dual-phase steels

open access: yesChinese Physics Letters, 1984
Initial flow stresses and coercivities during and after tension and tension plus compression in ferrite-martensite dual phase steels have been measured. It was found that both parameters for tension plus compression are smaller than those for tension only. For the flow stress, this phenomenon is called Bauschinger effect.

Characterisation and Development of Nanostructured, Ultrahigh Strength, and Ductile Bainitic Steels

open access: yes, 2006
The purpose of the present work was to characterise and further develop a novel nanostructured type of bainitic steel. Three chemical compositions were considered with different concentrations of Al and Co.

Effect of laser welding on microstructure and mechanical behaviour of dual phase 600 steel sheets

open access: yesHeliyon, 2021
Dual Phase steels are one of the most used advanced high-strength materials in the industry, due to its combination of a ductile ferritic matrix and disperse hard martensite islands, which provide outstanding mechanical properties for components to be ...

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Dry Sliding wear behaviour of Ferrite-Martensite Dual Phase Steels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In the present investigation, High Strength Low Alloy Steel (HSLA) was subjected to Intermediate Quench (IQ) heat treatment process at four different intercritical temperatures to obtain Dual Phase(DP) steels of varying percentages of ferrite-martensite ...

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...
