Subnanosecond fluorescence waveforms measurements with a dual time-scale microprocessor-controlled averager

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1981
This paper presents a microprocessor-controlled apparatus for the measurement of fast fluorescence waveforms. This apparatus features a dual-time scale for the analysis of multiexponential decays. A sampling oscilloscope is used as the sampling device. The sampling time is externally controlled by means of a staircase reference voltage.

Dual-Time-Scale Ion Acceleration Dynamics in Hall Thrusters

Physical Review Letters
We report the first direct observation using a retarding potential analyzer of time-resolved ion energy distribution functions (IDFs) in a Hall thruster (HT) on two distinct time scales corresponding to the breathing mode (∼kHz) and the ion transit time oscillation (ITTO, ∼100  kHz).

Computing Dual Time-scale Dynamic User Equilibria

2010
In this paper we summarize a dual-time scale formulation of dynamic user equilibrium with demand growth due to Friesz et al (2008). This formulation belongs to the problem class that Pang and Stewart (2008) refer to as di§erential variational inequalities.

Dual-time-scale simulation of dynamics and reconfiguration of fiber optical networks

2012 14th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2012
We describe an approach to simulate the power transients in complex (branched, ring, or mesh) transparent fiber optical networks. Simulations are performed at two time scales: first, the signal power dynamics in Erbium-doped fiber amplifiers is modeled at (sub-) millisecond scale using statistical signal descriptions.

Dual Time Scales in a Wave Problem Governed by Coupled Nonlinear Equations

SIAM Review, 1981
The method of multiple time scales is used to obtain a uniformly valid perturbation solution for initial value problems (periodic or isolated initial disturbance) arising in shallow water motion or in compressible gas flow. The results are used to modify the original equations so as to lead to a particularly convenient problem formulation.

Power Plant Systems Operational Scheduling Using a Dual-Time Scale

10th AIAA/ISSMO Multidisciplinary Analysis and Optimization Conference, 2004
One of the most challenging problems in the electric power generation business is balancing short term productivity with the optimal level of production over a long time period. In this paper a systematic approach to the modeling of gas turbine power plants for long term generation scheduling is introduced.

Dual Covariant Derivative on Time Scales

2021
The covariant derivative is a kind of derivative along tangent vectors of a curve or surface. The covariant derivative has many applications in physics, kinematics, robotics, machine engineering, and other scientific areas. Additionally, a dual vector or screw-vector in the dual space is an important tool widely used in kinematic and robotic studies to

Mixed-Time Scale Based Adaptive Mode Switching for Dual Mode SWIPT

2019 IEEE Wireless Power Transfer Conference (WPTC), 2019
In this paper, we implement transmitter-oriented dual mode simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) system in which two types (single/multi-tone) of communication mode are adopted to achieve the benefit of each communication mode. Duty-cycling operation is introduced for low-power consuming IoT devices to be self-powered. We propose
