Dual versus amplitude scaling in nonlinear time-history analysis.
2014In order to estimate the inelastic seismic response of structures modern design codes such as the ASCE7 or Eurocode 8 allow for the use of a family of scaled natural accelerograms in conjunction with nonlinear time-history analysis. In view of this, a number of selection and scaling criteria have been proposed over the years.

A dual speed scheme for dynamic voltage scaling on real-time multiprocessor systems
The Journal of Supercomputing, 2014This paper proposes an off-line dynamic voltage scaling (DVS) scheme that can be integrated with EDF$$^{(k)}$$(k), which is a global real-time scheduling algorithm for symmetric multiprocessor systems. The scheme computes the static execution speed for each individual task assuming the task's worst-case execution.

Dual Time Scales in a Wave Problem Governed by Coupled Nonlinear Equations
SIAM Review, 1981The method of multiple time scales is used to obtain a uniformly valid perturbation solution for initial value problems (periodic or isolated initial disturbance) arising in shallow water motion or in compressible gas flow. The results are used to modify the original equations so as to lead to a particularly convenient problem formulation.

Dual-scale generalized Radon-Fourier transform family for long time coherent integration
2022 11th International Conference on Control, Automation and Information Sciences (ICCAIS), 2022Long time coherent integration (LTCI) is to accumulate target's energy through long time integration, which is an effective method for the detection of weak target. However, for a moving target, defocusing can occur due to the range migration (RM) and the Doppler frequency migration (DFM). To address this problem, RM and DFM corrections are required to

Application of Two Time-Scale Separation NDI Controller to a Dual Aerodynamically-Controlled Missile
2020 Australian and New Zealand Control Conference (ANZCC), 2020Agile dual aerodynamically-controlled (DAC) missile presents a sophisticated flight control problem given the inherent missile-nonlinear and tail-fin-canard coupling dynamics that render the system non-affine in control. Given the complexity of the plant, application of most advanced controller present a complex modelling challenge.

Dual Covariant Derivative on Time Scales
2021The covariant derivative is a kind of derivative along tangent vectors of a curve or surface. The covariant derivative has many applications in physics, kinematics, robotics, machine engineering, and other scientific areas. Additionally, a dual vector or screw-vector in the dual space is an important tool widely used in kinematic and robotic studies to

Dual-time-scale simulation of dynamics and reconfiguration of fiber optical networks
2012 14th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2012We describe an approach to simulate the power transients in complex (branched, ring, or mesh) transparent fiber optical networks. Simulations are performed at two time scales: first, the signal power dynamics in Erbium-doped fiber amplifiers is modeled at (sub-) millisecond scale using statistical signal descriptions.

Power Plant Systems Operational Scheduling Using a Dual-Time Scale
10th AIAA/ISSMO Multidisciplinary Analysis and Optimization Conference, 2004One of the most challenging problems in the electric power generation business is balancing short term productivity with the optimal level of production over a long time period. In this paper a systematic approach to the modeling of gas turbine power plants for long term generation scheduling is introduced.

MEASUREMENT OF FINE SCALE STRUCTURE IN TURBULENCE BY TIME-RESOLVED DUAL-PLANE STEREOSCOPIC PIV
Proceeding of Fifth International Symposium on Turbulence and Shear Flow Phenomena, 2007Abstract To investigate fine scale structure of turbulent flows, time-resolved dual-plane stereoscopic particle image velocimetry (TRDPSPIV) has been developed using high-repetition-rate Nd:YAG lasers for industrial processing and high-speed CMOS cameras. This system provides all three velocity components and nine velocity gradients with high spatial
