Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Economic value of dual‐purpose cowpea as affected by variety, fertilizer, and environment

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences & Environment
Across the semiarid regions of West Africa, cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp) varieties grown by farmers are either grain‐ or forage‐only, and often fields are not fertilized.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Legendre Transforms and Dual Varieties

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 1994
The author defines the notion of flatness degree related to a projective variety \(S\). It is known for a variety \(S\) as a plane curve the classical notion of the so-called Legendre transform is applicable to the graph of a certain smooth function \(g\). This is true even if \(S\) is not a plane curve, but a subvariety of an \(n\)-dimensional real or

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

The second dual variety of rational conic bundles

open access: yesLe Matematiche, 2002
The second dual variety of a Segre-Hirzebruch surface linearly normally embedded in a projective space as a 2-regular rational conic bundle is studied by relating it to the classical dual variety of another linearly normal embedding of the underlying ...
