Transposition procedures in Duane retraction syndrome

Journal of American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, 2019
Duane retraction syndrome, or Duane syndrome (DS), is one of several congenital cranial dysinnervation disorders. Patients present with limited horizontal eye movement(s) and globe retraction with eyelid fissure narrowing on attempted adduction due to co-contraction of the lateral and medial rectus muscles in one or both eyes.

Unilateral Duane's Retraction Syndrome (Type 1)

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1982
Duane's retraction syndrome (DRS) is a congenital eye movement disorder characterized by adduction deficiency, abduction limitation, globe retraction, and palpebral fissure narrowing on attempted adduction. In a case of unilateral DRS, the right side of the brainstem, cavernous sinus, and orbit were completely normal.

Duane's retraction syndrome.

Journal of the American Optometric Association, 1990
Duane's retraction syndrome (DRS) is a congenital abnormality of ocular motility that occurs in about 1% of strabismic patients. Three types have been described and the clinical features include incomitant horizontal strabismus, restricted motility and globe retraction.

Auditory Function in Duane's Retraction Syndrome

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1990
We obtained audiograms and auditory brainstem responses from 44 patients with Duane's retraction syndrome to assess the incidence and nature of hearing deficit. Of 44 patients, seven (15.9%) had evidence of hearing impairment. Three (6.8%) subjects had a temporary conductive hearing loss because of middle ear fluid, and another patient had hearing loss

Sensory adaptations in Duane's retraction syndrome

Acta Ophthalmologica Scandinavica, 1995
ABSTRACT Knowledge of the sensory status of patients with Duane's retraction syndrome is limited. Fourteen patients with type A Duane's retraction syndrome, aged 6 to 22 years, were assessed prospectively and their sensory findings and the nature of their sensory symptoms detailed.

Duane retraction syndrome mimicking orbital fracture

British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 2011
We describe the case of a 20-year-old patient who presented at the accident and emergency department with symptoms and signs of fractures of the zygomatic complex and orbit following an assault. He was later discovered to have Duane retraction syndrome, a rare congenital disorder of eye movement that has some of the clinical characteristics of ...

Congenital Anomalies in Duane's Retraction Syndrome

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1972
Patients with sporadic Duane's retraction syndrome (congenital aberrant innervation) appear to have a significant increase in the number of associated congenital malformations. These are primarily facial anomalies, ear and hearing anomalies, skeletal deformities, and roentgenographic malformations in the upper vertebral column and rib cage.

Duane's retraction syndrome.

Journal of the American Optometric Association, 1992
The clinical findings for 29 patients with Duane's retraction syndrome (DRS) are reported. Similar to other studies, a preponderance of females, left eye involvement, and type I DRS occurred. The incidence of both anisometropia and amblyopia was somewhat higher than for the normal population.

Pseudo-Duane's retraction syndrome.

Transactions of the American Ophthalmological Society, 1977
Five patients presented with signs that were similar to but opposite from Duane's retraction syndrome. Most had a history of orbital trauma. On attempted abduction a narrowing of the palpebral fissure and retraction of the globe was observed. Diplopia with lateral gaze was present. Roentgenograms (polytomograms) showed involvement of the medial orbital
