Pilot Study of a Novel First-Line Protocol (THOP) for Intermediate–Large B-Cell Lymphoma in Dogs

open access: yesVeterinary Sciences
The current standard of care for treatment of intermediate–large B-cell lymphoma in dogs is a CHOP-based chemotherapy protocol. On-protocol disease progression is reported to be temporally associated with cyclophosphamide administration.

Prenatal Evaluation of RNU4‐2 Variants in Fetuses With Central Nervous System Anomalies

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part C: Seminars in Medical Genetics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Fetal central nervous system (CNS) anomalies are among the most common congenital malformations, yet the overall prenatal diagnostic yield of current genetic testing remains below 40%. Variants in RNU4‐2, a non‐coding gene encoding the U4 small nuclear RNA (snRNA), have recently been linked to a novel highly recurrent dominant ...

Visceral cysticercosis in a Kunekune sow: description and molecular identification of Taenia hydatigena

open access: yesHelminthologia
A 2-year-old Kunekune sow was submitted for necropsy following death after peritonitis and sepsis. In addition to peritonitis, numerous fluid-filled cysts were identified in the mesentery and hepatic parenchyma, which contained an approximately 1 cm ...

Reproduction Performance of the Second Generation of Reciprocal Cross of Tegal and Magelang Duck [PDF]

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences
This study aims to identify and compare the reproduction performance of the second generation (F2) of reciprocal crossbred between Tegal and Magelang duck. Crossing male (♂) Magelang duck and female (♀) Tegal duck produces Maggal duck while crossing male

Comparative Transcriptome Profiling of Skeletal Muscle from Black Muscovy Duck at Different Growth Stages Using RNA-seq

open access: yesGenes, 2020
In China, the production for duck meat is second only to that of chicken, and the demand for duck meat is also increasing. However, there is still unclear on the internal mechanism of regulating skeletal muscle growth and development in duck.

Assessing Angiogenic Properties In Vitro or In Ovo of Pre‐Crosslinked Alginate‐Dialdehyde‐Gelatin Hydrogels Incorporating Boron‐Doped Mesoporous Bioactive Glass Particles

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
This study examines the influence of boron‐doped mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles (MBGN) blended in cast and 3D‐printed pre‐crosslinked alginate‐dialdehyde‐gelatin (ADA‐GEL). Addition of 0.5% and 1% MBGN did not negatively affect the viability of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs), or the sprouting of HUVEC spheroids.

Development and application of a triplex real-time PCR assay for simultaneous detection of avian influenza virus, Newcastle disease virus, and duck Tembusu virus

open access: yesBMC Veterinary Research, 2020
Background Pathogens including duck-origin avian influenza virus (AIV), duck-origin Newcastle disease virus (NDV) and duck Tembusu virus (DTMUV) posed great harm to ducks and caused great economic losses to the duck industry.

Helmeted hornbill cranial kinesis: Balancing mobility and stability in a high‐impact joint

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Prokinesis—in which a craniofacial joint allows the rostrum to move relative to the braincase—is thought to confer diverse advantages in birds, mostly for feeding. A craniofacial joint would, however, be a weak link if cranial stability is important. Paradoxically, we have identified a craniofacial joint in helmeted hornbills (Rhinoplax vigil),

Future Prospects of Duck Production in Asia

open access: yesThe Journal of Poultry Science, 2001
Asia accounted for 87% of the world's duck population in 1999. In last two decades, duck meat and duck egg production has increased more than 4 times in Asia.

Genetic Diversity and Phylogenetic Analysis of South-East Asian Duck Populations Based on the mtDNA D-loop Sequences [PDF]

open access: yesAsian-Australasian Journal of Animal Sciences, 2016
The maternally inherited mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) D–loop region is widely used for exploring genetic relationships and for investigating the origin of various animal species. Currently, domestic ducks play an important role in animal protein supply.
