NDUFS1‐Mediated Mitochondrial Complex I Activity Maintains Pancreatic Cancer Stemness by Promoting PAX2 Hypomethylation

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
Pancreatic cancer stem cells (CSCs) maintain stemness and tumorigenicity through NDUFS1‐mediated complex I activity, which is transcriptionally upregulated via the CD147‐STAT3 signaling axis. Enhanced oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) and NAD+ production driven by this CD147‐NDUFS1 axis subsequently trigger the SIRT1‐DNMT1 metaboloepigenetic signaling

The Effect of Air Purification on the Indoor Air Quality in Habitable New Zealand Buildings

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Society of New Zealand, Volume 56, Issue 2, April 2026.
Particulate matter (PM) in indoor air, including fungal spores and bacteria, poses significant health risks, especially in poorly constructed and inadequately ventilated buildings that are prevalent in New Zealand. To maintain acceptable living conditions, there is a need to explore ways in which fungal and bacterial populations in habitable buildings ...

The Joint Global Epidemiology of Pancreatic Cancer and Pancreatitis: Co‐Occurrence Patterns, Shared Risk Factors, and Projections to 2040

open access: yesUnited European Gastroenterology Journal, Volume 14, Issue 3, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Pancreatic cancer and pancreatitis cause substantial mortality and morbidity, yet their joint global burden, epidemiology and determinants are rarely assessed together. We quantified their joint incidence burden, identified co‐occurrence patterns, and examined shared risk exposures across countries.

Quality of Life Among Thai Patients With Advanced Cancer: Findings From the APPROACH Study

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Clinical Oncology, Volume 22, Issue 2, Page 308-318, April 2026.
Cancer is the leading cause of death in Thailand, but quality of life with cancer is not well understood. Thai patients had relatively high quality of life, but the pervasiveness of self‐blame and its association with reduced quality of life, and the large proportion with depressive symptoms, stresses the need for mental health care.

Pathogenesis and Therapeutics for Chronic Pruritus of Unknown Origin: A Systematic Review

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dermatology, Volume 65, Issue 4, Page 706-723, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Chronic pruritus of unknown origin (CPUO) is a distressing condition characterized by persistent itch lasting over 6 weeks without an identifiable cause. The underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood, complicating diagnosis and treatment.

Listening to the Atmosphere: Using Infrasound Observations to Infer Atmospheric Conditions

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 5, 16 March 2026.
Abstract The stratosphere and mesosphere are important regions for the prediction of weather at the Earth's surface for medium‐ and long‐range forecasts. The availability of observations in these layers is lower than that of the troposphere, especially for the dynamics. While seeking new observational sources is important, there are existing infrasound
