The ductile to brittle transition in tin-lead alloys near melting temperatures
Metallurgical Transactions A, 1983Tensile tests were carried out on tin containing up to 2.0 wt pct lead between 160 and 220 °C at strain rates of 8.3 x 10-3 and 8.3 x 10-4 s-1. Both as-cast and heavily deformed samples were examined. The samples exhibited a ductile-brittle transition at a temperatureTDB below the equilibrium solidus temperature of the corresponding alloy.TDB was found

Ductile-to-brittle transition temperature as a measure of the crack resistance of steels
Strength of Materials, 1985In 1971 there was developed in collaboration with G. S. Pisarenko a model [19] of fracture of materials representing this process as a successive series of acts of origin of a microcrack at the tip of the main crack and their subsequent merging. In [20] the proposal was made for determination of the ductile-to-brittle transition temperature as the ...

Competing risks models for fracture in the ductile to brittle transition temperature region
International Journal of Fracture, 1995When fracture toughness testing is carried out over the ductile to brittle transition temperature region cleavage instability may be observed at the initiation of cracking or after some prior ductile crack growth. The amount of precleavage ductile crack growth increases with increasing temperature.

Correlation of Magnetic Properties and Ductile-to-Brittle Transition Temperature in Pipelines
Key Engineering Materials, 2014Drop-weight tear tests were conducted on high toughness pipeline steel, in order to analyze by fractography study the fracture appearance, occurring in the region impacted by a hammer. Measurements of hysteresis loops, in a range of very low temperatures (-20°C to-60°C), have been performed on samples in order to correlate its magnetic properties with ...

The Borborema Province (NE Brazil) is characterized by the development of continental-scale transcurrent shear zones related to the Neoproterozoic Brasiliano-Pan-African Orogeny. These shear zones commonly border Cretaceous intraplate sedimentary basins.

Ductile-to-brittle transition temperature of thermally segregated WWER-1000 base metal
International Journal of Microstructure and Materials Properties, 2007A series of thermal treatments on typical WWER-1000 reactor pressure vessel steel has been carried out to induce phosphorus segregation. Two conditions have been achieved with significantly different ductile-to-brittle transition temperatures, when compared to untreated metal.
