The ductile-to-brittle transition and the temperature and temporal stability of amorphous alloys

Bulletin of the Russian Academy of Sciences: Physics, 2015
The ductile-to-brittle transition of amorphous iron-based alloys is considered. A criterion of mechanical degradation (embrittlement) in the range of climatic temperatures is developed on its basis. Time intervals of the stability of some multicomponent iron-based quenched melt amorphous alloys of the metal–metalloid type are estimated.

Nondestructive Evaluation of Ductile to Brittle Transition Temperature for Martensitic Steels Based on Magnetic Measurements

Journal of Nondestructive Evaluation, 2017
Interest in magnetic nondestructive evaluation (NDE) methods for nuclear reactors materials to quantify material embrittlement and ensure reactor safety is increased. In this paper, ductile–brittle transition temperature (DBTT) and temperature dependence of the coercive field ( $$

Sol-gel temperature dependent ductile-to-brittle transition of aluminosilicate fiber reinforced silica matrix composite

Composites Part B: Engineering, 2017
Abstract A thorough understanding in the micro mechanical properties of the fiber, the fiber/matrix and the matrix of the composite material, especially in response to different processing temperatures, is critical to explore the strengthening and toughening mechanisms of the novel oxide fiber reinforced oxide ceramic matrix composites.

Bayesian Uncertainty Evaluation of Charpy Ductile-to-Brittle Transition Temperature for Reactor Pressure Vessel Steels

Volume 1: Codes and Standards, 2020
Abstract The irradiation embrittlement of reactor pressure vessel steels can be predicted using the ductile-to-brittle transition temperature (DBTT) shift obtained from Charpy impact tests. For the structural integrity assessment considering irradiation embrittlement, it is necessary to set margins for various uncertainties.

RETRACTED: Modeling Ductile-to-Brittle Transition Temperature of Functionally Graded Steels by Gene Expression Programming

International Journal of Damage Mechanics, 2011
In this article, a model based on gene expression programming for pre- dicting ductile-to-brittle transition temperature of functionally graded steels in both crack divider and crack arrester configurations has been presented. Functionally, graded steels containing graded ferritic and austenitic regions together with bainite and martensite intermediate

Effects of Thermal Aging on Ductile-to-Brittle Transition Temperature Behavior of Welded A516 Steel

Key Engineering Materials, 2011
Prolonged high temperature exposure of welded C-Mn steels is likely to cause microstructural changes leading to an inrease in the ductile-to-brittle transition temperature (DBTT) of the welded joint. Consequently, such degrading material properties should be quantified in view of establishing accurate component life prediction model.

RETRACTED: Modeling ductile to brittle transition temperature of functionally graded steels by artificial neural networks

Computational Materials Science, 2011
In the present paper, a model based on artificial neural networks for predicting ductile to brittle transition temperature of functionally graded steels in both crack divider and crack arrester configurations has been presented. Functionally graded steels containing graded ferritic and austenitic regions together with bainite and martensite ...

Ductile-to-brittle transition temperature as a measure of the crack resistance of steels

Strength of Materials, 1985
In 1971 there was developed in collaboration with G. S. Pisarenko a model [19] of fracture of materials representing this process as a successive series of acts of origin of a microcrack at the tip of the main crack and their subsequent merging. In [20] the proposal was made for determination of the ductile-to-brittle transition temperature as the ...

Statistical analysis of censored fracture toughness data in the ductile to brittle transition temperature region

Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 1993
Abstract Fracture toughness data obtained in the ductile to brittle transition region for a C-Mn submerged arc weld metal comprising both cleavage and ductile values have been analysed using survival statistics. A location-scale model has been used to define the relationship between cleavage fracture toughness and other variables including ...
