Characterisation of the damaging micromechanisms in a pearlitic ductile cast iron and damage assessment by acoustic emission testing

open access: yesFatigue & Fracture of Engineering Materials & Structures, 2020
The damaging micromechanisms in a pearlitic (EN-GJS700-2) Ductile Cast Iron (DCI) are investigated by means of Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) analysis and Acoustic Emission (AE) testing.

Pin-On-Disc Characterization of Brass/Ferritic and Pearlitic Ductile Iron Rubbing Pair

open access: yesHigh Temperature Materials and Processes, 2011
Wear behaviour of special brass produced through two different methods (centrifugal and sand casting) was investigated. The wear tests were carried out at sliding velocities of 0.2 ms–1, 0.3 ms–1, 0.4 ms–1 and 0.5 ms–1 and under 10 N, 20 N, and 40 N ...

Corrosion Inhibiting Mechanism of Nitrite Ion on the Passivation of Carbon Steel and Ductile Cast Iron for Nuclear Power Plants

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2015
While NaNO2 addition can greatly inhibit the corrosion of carbon steel and ductile cast iron, in order to improve the similar corrosion resistance, ca. 100 times more NaNO2 addition is needed for ductile cast iron compared to carbon steel.

Galvanic Corrosion Behavior of Ductile Iron/H62 Brass in Water Distribution System [PDF]

open access: yesCailiao Baohu
In order to investigate the galvanic corrosion of the connection between ductile cast iron and H62 brass water pipe in tap water supply network, electrochemical noise (EN), EDS, SEM and other methods were used to investigate the galvanic corrosion ...

Influence of Technological Parameters of Furane Mixtures on Shrinkage Creation in Ductile Cast Iron Castings

open access: yesArchives of Metallurgy and Materials, 2014
Ductile cast iron (GS) has noticed great development in last decades and its boom has no analogue in history humankind. Ductile iron has broaden the use of castings from cast iron into areas, which where exclusively domains for steel castings.

Damaging micromechanisms in an as cast ferritic and a ferritized ductile cast iron [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Mechanical behavior and damaging micromechanisms in Ductile Cast Irons (DCIs) are strongly effected by matrix microstructure (e.g., phases volume fraction, grains size and grain distribution) and graphite nodules morphology peculiarities (e.g ...

Erozija nodularnog lijeva česticama kvarcnog pijeska [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Ductile cast iron has high fatigue strength due to the spherical shape of graphite, especially after quenching and tempering. Higher toughness can be achieved by austempering.

Microstructure Evolution of a VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy After Synthesis, Swaging, and Annealing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis and processing (rotary swaging and annealing) of the novel VMnFeCoNi alloy is investigated, alongside the estimation of the grain size effect on hardness. Analysis of a wide grain size range of recrystallized microstructures (12–210 µm) reveals a low annealing twin density.

Property development in S.G iron by heat treatment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Cast iron is an alloy of iron containing more than 2% carbon as an alloying element. It has almost no ductility and must be formed by casting. ductile iron structure is developed from the melt of cast iron.
