Criterion of Ductile Fracture for GCr15 Bearing Steel
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013Ductile fracture is one of the defects in metal plastic forming. For predicting and preventing fracture occurs, a criterion describing the fracture accurately is necessary, especially in the case of numerical simulation. Three criterions, i.e. Cockcroft-Latham, McClintock, Rice & Tracey, were compared experimentally to decide the suitable one for ...

A fractal criterion for ductile and brittle fracture
Journal of Applied Physics, 1994A universal relationship between roughness and toughness of fractures is proposed and a new criterion to define brittle and ductile fracture is derived from the Griffith energy balance concept and fractal geometry.

Experimental study of the T-criterion in ductile fractures
Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 1983Abstract In the present paper, the newly introduced T -criterion was applied in the case of the fracture of a ductile material. Polycarbonate of Bisphenol A (PCBA) specimens containing slant internal cracks were tested and the experimentally obtained angles of crack propagation, as well as the respective fracture loads were compared to corresponding

An improvement of CTOD criterion for ductile fracture
Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 1992Abstract In this paper a relationship between the critical crack tip opening displacement (CTOD) at crack initiation δ ti and the stress triaxiality σ m / \ gs is derived based on the damage mechanics criterion for ductile fracture, and a modified crack tip parameter δ ti ∗ and a modified CTOD criterion are ...

A new damage mechanics criterion for ductile fracture
Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 1987Abstract In this paper, a new damage mechanics parameter V D is proposed, which is valid for characterizing ductile fracture, and a damage mechanics criterion is established based on a continuum damage mechanics model. The new material parameter of ductile fracture V Dc with an obvious microscopic physical meaning, which can be ...

Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 1992
Abstract A unified local criterion for ductile fracture is proposed on the basis of the continuum damage mechanics (CDM) model given by the author in Part I [Engng Fracture Mech. (submitted)], in which the stress, strain and damage history are included.

Identification of ductile fracture criterion on basis of experimental data
Canadian Metallurgical Quarterly, 2014Development of a new fracture criterion in metal forming was the general objective of the paper. The emphasis was put on accounting for temperature and strain rate in a proposed criterion. Compression tests and strain induced crack opening (SICO) tests for the Inconel alloy were performed and applied for identification and validation of fracture ...

A fracture criterion for fracture simulation of ductile metals based on micro-mechanisms
Theoretical and Applied Fracture Mechanics, 2018Abstract A correct representation of the fracture limit for material subject to various stress states is essential for the accurate prediction of fracture behavior. In this paper, a comprehensive fracture criterion for ductile metals is developed. The proposed criterion is composed of two competing and correlated sub-criterions corresponding to the ...

A ductile fracture criterion in sheet metal forming process
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2003Abstract Forming limit curves at neck (FLCN) and forming limit curves at fracture (FLCF) for various steel sheets were determined from a hemispherical punch stretching. The measured FLCF of the sheets with higher ductility limit had approximately linear shape like one of the bulk forming process.

Ductile Rupture Blunt-Notch Fracture Criterion
1977A blunt-notch fracture criterion is proposed. The criterion is shown to be applicable for the initiation of ductile tearing in the plane-strain regime. Elastic to fully plastic behavior can be treated. Experiments have shown ductile crack initiation to occur at a J-integral value which is only a function of notch root radius.
