Velocity profiles in the human ductus venosus: a numerical fluid structure interaction study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The veins distributing oxygenated blood from the placenta to the fetal body have been given much attention in clinical Doppler velocimetry studies, in particular the ductus venosus.

CUL3‐Related Neurodevelopmental Disorder: Expanding the Prenatal Phenotype

open access: yesPrenatal Diagnosis, Volume 46, Issue 7, Page 1122-1129, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Pathogenic variants of the CUL3 gene are known to cause a neurodevelopmental disorder with a partially described prenatal phenotype. This study further characterizes and expands the spectrum of prenatal sonographic findings associated with the disorder to improve prenatal diagnosis and counseling.

Anatomy of the Patent Ductus Venosus in the Cat

open access: yesJournal of Feline Medicine and Surgery, 2001
The biplanar mesenteric vein portovenograms of 10 cats with left divisional intrahepatic portosystemic shunts consistent with a patent ductus venosus (PDV) were reviewed. A corrosion cast of the hepatic portal vasculature was made post mortem from one individual that died post operatively following surgical attenuation of the shunting vessel.

Cardiac defects in chromosomally normal fetuses with abnormal ductus venosus blood flow at 10-14 weeks [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Objective To assess a possible relationship between ductus venosus blood flow abnormalities and cardiac defects in chromosomally normal fetuses with increased nuchal translucency thickness at 10-14 weeks of gestation.

The TRUFFLE monitoring protocol for early‐onset fetal growth restriction: A clinical effectiveness study

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 105, Issue 6, Page 1133-1139, June 2026.
Implementation of the TRUFFLE monitoring protocol in routine clinical practice achieves neonatal survival comparable to trial settings. Early‐onset FGR requires intensive, multimodal monitoring, with delivery decisions evolving by gestation. These findings support the protocol's real‐world effectiveness and highlight the potential value of more ...

Advancements and Applications of Focused Assessed Transthoracic Echocardiography: A Narrative Review

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Focused Assessed Transthoracic Echocardiography (FATE), developed by Dr. Erik Sloth in 1989, has become a key ultrasound technique for rapid bedside assessment of cardiac function. Its non‐invasive nature, real‐time imaging, and portability make it ideal for facilitating swift clinical decisions across various specialties ...

Prenatal and Postnatal Sonographic Confirmation of Congenital Absence of the Ductus Venosus in a Child with Noonan Syndrome

open access: yesCase Reports in Radiology, 2017
The ductus venosus serves as an important vascular pathway for intrauterine circulation. This case presents a description of an absent ductus venosus in a female patient with Noonan syndrome, including both prenatal and postnatal imaging of the anomaly ...

Valor preditivo do resultado fetal da dopplervelocimetria de ducto venoso entre a 11ª e a 14ª semanas de gestação Predictive value for fetal outcome of Doppler velocimetry of the ductus venosus between the 11th and the 14th gestation week

Prevention of stillbirths associated with umbilical cord abnormalities: A clinico‐pathological overview

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, Volume 173, Issue 2, Page 635-653, May 2026.
Abstract Stillbirths affect millions of pregnancies every year worldwide, and obstruction of the umbilical cord blood flow is one of the main causes of fetal death. This review provides a clinico‐pathological overview of cord abnormalities potentially associated with antepartum stillbirth, describing the mechanism determining the death and addressing ...
