Enzyme production by the nematode-trapping fungus, Duddingtonia flagrans

open access: yesBiotechnology Letters, 2003
Duddingtonia flagrans degrades peptides, proteins, starch, pectin, lipase, lecithin and oils when grown on agar medium. Serine proteases with optimal activity at pH 8.5 to 10.5 were produced when it was grown in submerged culture. It also produced phospholipase C with optimal activity at pH 8.5, lipases with high activity at pH 3.5 and at 7.5 to 8.5 ...

Avaliação in vitro do fungo predador de nematoides Duddingtonia flagrans sobre larvas infectantes de ciatostomíneos de equinos (Nematoda: Cyathostominae) In vitro evaluation of nematode predacious fungus Duddingtonia flagrans on cyathostomes infective larvae of equines (Nematoda: Cyathostominae)

Duddingtonia flagrans in the control of gastrointestinal nematodes of horses

open access: yesExperimental Parasitology, 2015
Horses can harbor a large amount of parasites that may cause serious clinical signs even death. The aim of this study was to evaluate the predatory activity of the fungus Duddingtonia flagrans against infective larvae (L3) of gastrointestinal nematodes of horses in fecal culture.

Soybean protein films. Characterization and Potential as Novel Delivery Devices of Duddingtonia flagrans Chlamydospores [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This study was aimed at assessing the potential use of soybean protein concentrate (SPC) - based film as vehicle for the delivery of Duddingtonia flagrans chlamydospores for the biological control of gastric nematodes in ruminals. Glycerol and dialdehyde

Improved method for Duddingtonia flagrans chlamydospores production for livestock use

open access: yesVeterinary Parasitology, 2009
Duddingtonia flagrans is a nematode-trapping fungus responsible for attacking larval stages of helminthes in pasture. D. flagrans chlamydospores were produced using a two-step liquid/solid culture system. The inoculum grown in liquid medium was transferred to a rice substrate and kept at room temperature for 30 days.

Investigation on the influence of nematophagous fungi as feed additive on nematode infection risk of sheep and goats on pasture [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Gastrointestinal nematodes in small ruminants cause high economic losses. Thus on most farms anthelmintic treatment is required. In response to increasing problems with anthelmintic resistance, biological control, for example the use of nematophagous ...
