Heat Pump Model Utilizing Dufour Effect

open access: yesHeat Pump Model Utilizing Dufour Effect
We propose a heat pump model utilizing the Dufour effect and study this system by numerical and theoretical analysis. Numerically, we perform molecular dynamics (MD) simulations of this system and measure the cooling power and the coefficient of performance (COP) as figures of merit. In these simulations, we confirm that this system is surely useful as

Recent Polygenic Adaptation in Heavily Fished Malawi Cichlids

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 35, Issue 12, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Intense fishing pressure can drive rapid evolution in wild populations, yet the underlying genomic mechanisms often remain elusive. Here, we investigate the genomic consequences of five decades of intense harvesting on the cichlid fish Copadichromis mloto in Lake Malombe, Malawi.

Citizen science reveals host‐switching in louse flies and keds (Diptera: Hippoboscidae) during a period of anthropogenic change

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, Volume 40, Issue 2, Page 305-322, June 2026.
A study of louse flies in the United Kingdom, Isle of Man, and Ireland found 212 different interactions between Hippoboscidae and their hosts, of which 70 were previously unrecorded. No louse flies were found on aquatic species of birds. Host‐switching to gulls (Laridae) has occurred during a period in which these species have started relying on ...

Isolation and functional characterization of primary human proximal tubular epithelial cells from brain‐dead organ donors

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 14, Issue 11, June 2026.
Protocol for isolation and culture of primary proximal tubular epithelial cells from kidneys retrieved from brain‐dead organ donors and designated for research after rejection for transplantation. These cells, bbd‐PTEC, express canonical proximal tubule epithelial markers and demonstrate functional transport.
