Efficient homology-based annotation of transposable elements using minimizers. [PDF]
Abstract Premise Transposable elements (TEs) make up more than half of the genomes of complex plant species and can modulate the expression of neighboring genes, producing significant variability of agronomically relevant traits. The availability of long‐read sequencing technologies allows the building of genome assemblies for plant species with large ...

Study to determine if rare taxa can be detected using molecular methods in hive pollen collected from a nearby apiary. Honey bees were confirmed to visit the target taxa when abundant but were not detected in the hive pollen while they were rare. Abstract The detection of rare taxa, crucial to conservation and biosecurity, presents many challenges that

SUMMARY Pod dehiscence is a major source of yield loss in legumes, which is exacerbated by aridity. Disruptive mutations in “Pod indehiscent 1” (PDH1), a pod sclerenchyma‐specific lignin biosynthesis gene, has been linked to significant reductions in dehiscence in several legume species.

Unravelling the Genetic Mechanisms of Litter Traits in a Maternal Line of Pigs. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Reproductive traits related to litter size are the main indicators of reproductive efficiency in pig production and are continuously evaluated for the selection of maternal lines. Several environmental and genetic factors are involved with the development of these traits.

Abstract Cutaneous leishmaniasis is a vector‐borne disease that produces growing skin ulcers. In Colombia, the transmitting phlebotomine sandfly is native to the same jungles that have been the primary theater of war. Although combatants are the most affected by leishmaniasis, military landmine detection dogs are also significantly impacted.

Abstract Common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is consumed worldwide, with strong regional preferences for seed appearance characteristics. Colors of the seed coat, hilum ring, and corona are all important, along with susceptibility to postharvest darkening, which decreases seed value.
