A simple model for a transverse dune field
We present a simple one-dimensional model to describe the evolution of a transverse dune field. The model is characterized by the distances between the dunes and their heights, which determine the inter-dune sand flux.

The physics of wind-blown sand and dust [PDF]
The transport of sand and dust by wind is a potent erosional force, creates sand dunes and ripples, and loads the atmosphere with suspended dust aerosols.

ABSTRACT Shell middens in Gippsland along the eastern half of Victoria's coastline have usually been characterised as small, short‐duration camp sites with relatively low shell densities and low taxonomic diversity. Here we present new excavation results from a dense, high‐diversity site at Red Bluff near the eastern end of GunaiKurnai Country, a ...

A parameterization of flow separation over subaqueous dunes [PDF]
Flow separation plays a key role in the development of dunes, and modeling the complicated flow behavior inside the flow separation zone requires much computational effort.

Landscape Configuration and Dune Habitats Conservation: Coterillo´s Dunes in the Region of Murcia (Spain) [PDF]
The landscape of Coterillo is characterized by habitats that share the territory with exotic-invasive species and other species, which were planted in the early twentieth century to fix the dunes that invaded the salt ponds.

Minimal size of a barchan dune
Barchans are dunes of high mobility which have a crescent shape and propagate under conditions of unidirectional wind. However, sand dunes only appear above a critical size, which scales with the saturation distance of the sand flux [P. Hersen, S. Douady,
